Love the selection, but also wouldn't go back on a day the tattooed guy is working. Idk his name but based on other reviews, I'm not the only one with this complaint. Had negative experience with him 2 separate days. His jokes are unwelcome and unfunny. I don't get offended easily, but "Ew" was his response to the first item he scanned for me. Because it had glitter on it. No greeting, no mundane small talk to kick it off, just "ew". I almost asked to leave it there, but I was shopping with my someday mother in law who loves the store, and that was the item I specifically got for the holidays bc she liked it too. I went back to purchase a lot of items for a themed party and found everything I was looking for. I was relieved to see a girl at the checkout instead of the rude guy this time, but of course he happened to walk by towards the end of my transaction. "Are you married?" No (I was smiling but confused, thought maybe he thinks my carts are for a wedding or something, tons of fake realistic flowers) "good because you wouldn't be for long" ... The joke didn't really land but I tried to laugh it off and say I can hide the stuff away in our crawl space. Even the girl checking me out seemed to get uncomfortable and explained how I'm throwing a party. Why do I feel the need to defend myself while supporting a store? I'm sorry do I need to go ask my man for my weekly allowance? Or seek permission to spend my own earned money on what i want to buy? Was it the items or the amount I was spending that was so offensive? Who knows ... Fast forward to when I got home, I showed my partner the flowers and he was excited for me, told me how tasteful they are and how cute my party will be. (Talk about a supportive keeper!) I jokingly asked if he was going to leave me based on my shopping habits and he was confused until I told him about those interactions. Needless to say he's also upset at how self conscious the rude dude made me feel. I know I need to be better at not just laughing something off when I'm uncomfortable, but I seriously plan to call ahead and only go in again on a day if that guy isn't working. He is not an ideal person to work in a decor or hobby store that sells glittery reindeer and cute bouquets to presumably cheerful people. The items are 5 stars, but giving this review one star to get attention about employees. As a business owner myself, I value knowing my customers' experiences, and these were awful due to those interactions. Luckily the products, selection, and store are nice. Pics of disgusting sparkly reindeer and divorce-inducing...
Read moreThey have a lovely array of merchandise at good prices. However, their staff need some serious training in customer service. I went there for the first time yesterday and the checkout sales lady was so blasé. Not rude - but definitely disinterested. I had an 8 x 10 (heavy!) rolled up rug in my cart and she was having trouble scanning it (the code she wanted was at the bottom of the roll - kind of stuck into the corner of the cart). She basically just stood there helplessly while I tried to maneuver the heavy carpet to give her access. Note: I'm 64; she was about 35. I finally got irritated and flatly said, "Sorry, I can't move this any more - you'll have to figure it out." Which she did.
I paid for my order, then asked if she knew if the store carried any carpet pads. I specifically said I didn't want the ultra thin non-skid grippers (which is not a pad at all) and she assured me they carried thicker pads "in the rug department." She made no effort to guide me, but she might have been told to stay at the register, so I'll give her a pass on that one. I left my cart off to the side and hoofed it back to the rug department--where I searched high and low for a rug pad. I finally stumbled across another blasé employee and asked her for help. She led me over one aisle to... you guessed it! The super thin non-stick grippers which was exactly what I'd told Clerk #1 I did NOT want. When I explained to Clerk #2 what I was after and that Clerk #1 had specifically told me the store carried, she just shrugged and said, "no - we don't have those."
Fast forward an hour and I get the rug home, unroll it and the thing has a 2-inch hole in the center. At this point, I'm beyond done. The next day, I schlepped the 8 x 10 rug back to the store - about a 30 minute drive--and Clerk #3 acted like she was bestowing a great honor on me by issuing my return. No, "sorry for your trouble
Read moreNo store will be completely filled with merchandise everyone likes nor will anyone think everything is priced correctly. Any store that allows customers to handle the merchandise will be shopped by people too lazy to return things to where they belong or to give an unwanted item to a cashier. Some people even think it's ok to leave a trout in the office supplies at a Bay Area Costco. Ok. One person I saw who defended their action but statistically I bet there was another.
Having said that, it's so sad some reviewers have unknowingly had their standards skew so they somehow think walmart is normal or good and this is less? That shoppers make a mess (see "trout") and yes, employees should clean up but recently workers have quit in large numbers so a lot of places are understaffed. Workers are underpaid. Mitch McConnell refuses them $15/hr. To keep up with inflation, cost of living, etc workers should be paid a minimum of $26/hour. No, it won't destroy the economy as your Republican uncle says. Instead the surly employees some of you run into would be able to afford the merchandise and health care so maybe they wouldn't be so surly. I didn't have the negative experience but I wonder how "sales associates" can remain so happy...
