I'll Start with the arrival.. doesn't look like much from the outside, but then again,, what bbq joint does? Clean. As I walked in I was greeted by one person, girl with glasses,I didn't catch her name. The aroma in there was so natural of good bbq that I was almost excited to try it.. I got in line, and was quickly a spectator off the slicing of the brisket from other customers ahead of me.. I ordered a brisket sandwich, quarter pound of pulled pork, quarter pound of turkey, beans, and broccoli salad.. they had a separate building that had seating so I went there for some peace and quiet.. the brisket was very nice. Moist, tender, and a Smooth flavor throughout, same with the pulled pork, nit overwhelming smoke, and not just flavor on the bark, the actual meat was flavorful. Beans: great aroma, hot (temperature wise) and nice smooth flavor as well.. very south Texas.. anime the turkey lacked seasoning, it made up for it with its juiciness.. Sauce: for my taste, was a little too sweet.. nothing some pepper can't fix, I added pepper, and I was having fun..Broccoli Salad : I enjoyed this. Broccoli, cranberries, light dressing, again.. not overwhelming.. Needless to say 1848 is definitely doing south Texas right.
Dislikes: The only 2 thinks that I didn't like was, the owner and other girl that was there have a very stone still face. The place wasn't busy when I went, so couldn't have been a rush thing. I'm not sure, but, to some people in a happy mood to try some great food,,, that can really mess up a person's day.. last but not least, there is no dessert option.. nothing, zip, zero, nada... no pudding, pies, or even Mexican candy to purchase on the way out.. that is all..
Hope...
Read moreComing from a Carolina guy, I always has high expectations on BBQ. I’ve always heard that Texas had the best BBQ which im biases and thinks the Carolinas has the best BBQ. My first time having BBQ in Texas was a place in Houston and it was decent. Second time was in Dallas and that BBQ wasn’t good at all. So naturally I’m thinking this place is going to be pretty lame because I haven’t been impressed with the BBQ in Texas. Ohhh boy... I can not include this place on my list of below average Texas BBQ places. 1848 had BY FAR the best BBQ in Texas. That is how BBQ is supposed to be cooked and how it should taste. Easily the best I’ve in Texas. I got the ribs and they were as tender as can be. The sauce was incredible. I’d give 6...
Read moreA group of us went by to try this local spot out. I heard they had an amazing beer selection so wanted to try out some new brews.
The beer selection is unmatched in Brownsville. They have a few local breweries on tap, which is nice to see them supporting local businesses. They have a crazy variety of beers on draft and bottled/can.
We came for the drinks but the food was very good as well. I had the brisket and sausage with beans and Mac and it was all super good.
Atmosphere is great, we even decided to go outside to play some corn-hole. The entire vibe is great. They had good music playing inside and outside. I just wish that they had some live music or karaoke on the nice stage they...
