There's a reason this shop has 5 stars. I've been to tons of comic and collectible shops all around New England and the best experience I've ever had was at right here at Midcoast Comics. The owner is super friendly, started conversation with me just to have conversation, showed genuine interest in my collection and what I was looking for, and made me feel like he was happy to have me in there looking around. This was my second time visiting the store and I was able to find a bunch of cool things that weren't in there a few months prior. The shop is well organized, it was easy to find the right section I should be looking in, and the prices are more than fair, some even below what some of the items are valued at. I stopped in on a Friday night, which is their Magic card game night, and the owner literally went out and bought pizza for the players that came. Seeing a place/owner that values their customers, and seeing the crowd his shop attracted was for lack of a better term, heartwarming haha. Also being hosted off to the side was an improv game circle, which shows me that the owner has created a safe, judgement-free environment where people can enjoy their hobbies. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. 10/10 experience, and I highly highly recommend...
Read moreMidcoast Comics is hands-down one of my favorite places in Brunswick. It’s like stepping into your very own Sanctuary of Cool — packed with comics, Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon cards, and all sorts of nerdy treasures you didn’t know you needed until you saw them.
Steve, the owner, is basically Brunswick’s very own Professor X. He’s got this superhuman ability to make everyone feel welcome and included, whether you’re a seasoned collector, a casual player, or just someone looking for a good conversation about which Avenger would win in a fight.
The back room is like a secret lair for gamers — open to anyone who wants to play cards, dive into a D&D campaign, or set up a Smash Bros. tournament. There’s even a TV for video games, because what kind of hero’s hideout wouldn’t have one?
And bonus points — you can set up a monthly pull list for your comics, so you never miss the latest issue of your favorite series (looking at you, X-Men fans).
Honestly, it’s one of those places you walk into and instantly feel like you rolled a natural 20 on your day. If you haven’t stopped by Midcoast Comics yet, grab your dice, don your cape, and consider this your official call...
Read moreCool new shop in downtown Brunswick. It's down a (clean, freshly-painted) hallway and up a short flight of stairs, but the signage directing you up to the shop is very clear (not sure if there is an elevator for handicap access). Great artwork on the walls leading up to a bright and airy shop space in a historic building. The shop is easy to browse, and has a good selection of single-issue comics as well as bound graphic novels. Lots of new releases, but also has many classic series. The shop owner was friendly, personable, and open to suggestions for his new store. Seems to be a great spot for both experienced comic readers or those who are just getting into comics and...
