What is it with this Hannaford off Maine St in Brunswick? The employees who work the meat department are rude! I can stand at their counter for a good 10 minutes before someone decides I’m good enough to help. Is it because I’m brown? My gut says “no.” Is it because I’m a woman? My gut says “no.” Is it because they have HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE?!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep, it’s the last one. They have HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. When I am finally acknowledged their attitude pretty much says something like, “How dare you interrupt me, what the “F” do you want?!!!” Ugh, this store is awful. I’m tempted to ask for 50 different things and just leave it all at the counter! LOL!!! Of course I would never do that! I don’t get that kind of greeting at Shaws. I’m hoping Market Basket has great customer service and great product with better prices. (These days that’s probably asking too much.) I know everything is expensive right now but sheesh, how hard is it to say, “Hi, what can I get you today?” Simple. Boom-Shaka-Lack-a! Then I can say, “Thank you, have a good day.”
Update: I try not to go to this meat department but was delightfully surprised when an employee came right over and asked what they can do for me! I almost fell over!!!! The transaction was simple, courteous and quick. Next time I’m in I’ll be sure to get the name so I can Thank him for...
Read moreThe layout in this location is bad. Traffic jam all the time near checkouts. The staff does a good job though.
The biggest problem I have is with the bottle return. When this program first started I lived practically next door to a location so it was convenient to do bring my cans back there. Then the Clynk system went in and it was a huge turn off. Still patronized the store but begrudgingly.
I have since moved so now it's a 10 mile trip, passing several other grocery stores in doing so. I like shopping at Hannaford so I made the trip until the other day.
I brought two bags of cans to the store and walked the entire length of the front end to the redemption area but it is under construction. I had passed three employees in doing this and they said nothing. A customer came up to me and told me that the redemption was now being done in a building at the farthest end of the parking lot. So I made the trip, the entire front of the store again with the two bags and made the trek to the outskirts of the parking lot only to find out the machine that is needed to print off the bag tags was nowhere to be found.
The machine was in the store and had been moved to just a couple of feet from where the kind customer had told me what was going on.
Needless to say Hannaford will never see me again and all my friends and their friends know not...
Read moreThis is one of the few supermarkets that I actually enjoy visiting. I've been shopping there at least weekly for the past four years. The employees - from the store manager to the cashiers, department employees, and the baggers - are friendly, helpful, and overall have a very positive attitude. The food selection, quality, and pricing is very good. On the downside, the number of specialty vegan products is limited. If you're looking for lots of vegan brands, you're better off going to the health food store on Maine St. Because Hannafords is so popular with the locals, it can get very crowded inside. The parking lot can become a little chaotic - patience helps! But overall, this is one market I am happy...
