This review is mostly about the employee "Jessica" at the register last night, curly haired young lady. God she was awful. There was an older lady checking out ahead of me and she nailed her about the wire shelf she was purchasing (basically insinuating that the lady was trying to take 2 for the price of 1) and saying how she should've known they were stuck together. "I'm so very sorry, I did not know" said the older lady. This cashier then grabs the wire shelf and forcefully tries to yank it out, throws it back into the cart after failing to break it apart, again the lady apologizes, annoyed and rolling her eyes the cashier grabs the shelf again and forcefully yanks, and yanks until she finally removes it. Humiliated the older lady pays and leaves. Next she checks me out and she begins to throw my items in the basket I kindly ask her "could you please NOT throw my groceries in the basket?" The cashier complies until I have chicken breast in a poultry bag and she has to take it out to scan it, she huffs and puffs, rolls her eyes and continues to throw my items into the basket including glass bottles of mineral water. (Husband and I looked at eachother and decided to just let it go.) I pay for our groceries, thank her, and after no response I take my cart to the edge to fix my groceries. What really broke my heart was the way she treated a couple behind us. A husband and wife, senior adults, both African American. The cashier threw all of their groceries into their cart, all of them. Cans, bottles, eggs you name it. They both had confused faces, clearly not understanding why she was acting that way towards them. It seriously took everything in me not to stand up for them, she was extremely rude to them, they paid for their groceries (nothing was free), they are basically paying for her to have a job by shopping there. There is absolutely no need for them and even us to have been treated that way. The manager or store owner needs to have a talk with her asap, perhaps put her behind the scenes so she doesn't have to interact with customers. I hope you take this into consideration because it is unpleasant for a customer to have to witness awful treatment to senior adults and I can only imagine how they felt. This needs to get taken care of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've only been able to shop here 4 times since moving to BCS 2 months ago, but whew, what a difference!! Haha. I moved from Tyler which, altho having 2 Aldi's, was always tough to find parking much less get through the store with even only 5 items needing to purchase, in under an hour, cuz it'd be so packed no matter the hour. Another bonus, the crew here are always very pleasant and helpful. Granted, the Tyler locations, cuz always swamped with needing to hire more ppl to handle the shoppers, fill the shelves constantly cuz ppl would load up 2-3 carts/family, answer questions, find items for the requesting party, and be available to ring up the loads of carts, there was just no chance for the workers to catch a breath, understandably, yet, even when a bit busy at this BCS location, when needing help finding something, each of the ppl I've encountered have all been very pleasant, courteous and helpful. The greatest news of all, I've learned they'll be carrying popcorn kernels year round. I used to be that person that would buy all 21 bags remaining on the shelf once they'd come in during the holidays. These kernels are non-GMO at of course, a great price. Large eggs at 78 cents, uncured and nitrate/nitrite-free bacon at 4.99 when regular stores avg $8 for same 12oz pkg, and the list goes on. PHENOMENAL prices and then wonderful workers, don't understand why this place isn't as slammed as the Tyler locations, but I'm ok with the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is supposed to be offbranded discounted groceries. The store sets its prices so as to be competitive with local stores. Walmart is the closest grocery chain/super store to Aldis. What a disappointing move, Aldis! There are other local grocery stores, like Kroger & HEB, that carry their store brand, the generic brands & name brands cheaper than Walmart! Walmart wants $5.12 for 1lb of butter, $3.50+ for a gallon of milk, $4.24 for 1 dozen eggs, $3.60 for 1lb of sliced american cheese, $2.68 for a 16oz bag of shredded cheese, a 1lb roll of 80/20 hamburger is $4.78 (goodness if ya have to eat the 90/10 or above bc it's almost $7.00 for 1lb)!!! A 3lb bag of boneless skinless frozen chicken breasts is $7.98. Frozen precooked fish products are just about as expensive as the freshly frozen nonprocessed fish & seafood. This is who y'all choose to compete with? Bc Walmarts are there to take advantage of their customers via their own ignorance, but that doesn't mean Aldis should as well! Ik ik it's just business, nothing personal, but it's BAD business, and when the economy is headed for a recession (if we aren't already there) this is not the time to price gauge ppls...
