If there were a lower rating than one star that's what I would give this place. We purchased a couch and loveseat from Star furniture in Bryan, TX, on August 31st and did not receive the couch until December 17th. It was a custom order and we understood it would take some time, but we were told at the time of the purchase it would take 4 to 6 weeks. We were expecting it late October. We did not receive the couch or loveseat, or any calls or updates. We called the store and were told that it can take up to three months for special orders. They also told us that it is in the contract. Shame on me for not reading that part, but we trusted our sales rep with what she told us.
When the three month period came and went, and again received no call or email with an update, we called prepared to cancel our order, even though it was stated that we could not cancel a special order.
We decided to wait and did finally receive the furniture, only to see a couch was built reverse of what we ordered.
They offered a small discount when the furniture did not arrive in the three month timeframe, and again when it came in made incorrectly. I am now in the process of trying to get them to order the correct pieces for the couch. They want me to email pictures of of the couch after I explained it to them in their store where I went back to.
We do not appreciate the lack of care they have given to the situation. We had previously bought furniture from star, but we will not be going back. Total...
Read moreMy family went in on a Saturday looking for a couch. We had been looking for 3 days so we were kind of pushed for time on finding something. We were greeted by Jonell when we walked in. She started off super friendly which I thought was genuine. After purchasing a couch for $1500, we left. On the way home, we decided to look one more time at another place. We found a couch similar. I called Jonell back to see about canceling our purchase since it had literally only been 20 min. Jonell seemed irritated that I was even asking to refund. Her initial friendly tone was gone. I immediately felt like we were just commission to her. She informed me that it would take 2-3 weeks for us to get our refund check. I asked, "Even if it had only been 20 minutes?" She said yes, they can't just refund our money. We paid some with cash and the rest on card. I even asked about the cash being refunded and she said that I would have to wait for the whole amount to come on the check. I feel like there could have been something else done, or at least, better customer service on that aspect at least. I would not recommend anyone shop at this location. Read moreI had a very bad experience with Star Furniture. I picked out 3 bar stools online and was very excited to drive 30 miles to pick them up as the ad said: IN STOCK!! When I arrived, I learned they had none in stock and would have to be delivered from the warehouse in Houston. I was told by Craig they would be delivered by May 29 and I would receive a call from him when I could pick them up. I gave my old stools away expecting to have new ones by then. I called on Saturday to find out they were there but no one bothered to call and let me know. Craig admitted that someone should have called me and that he would have the stools delivered to my house at no charge and that if I did not like them, I could return them which I had been told previously at the store that once they left the store I could not return them BUT to make it right he would have them delivered for free and that I would hear from the delivery person as they were leaving the store to deliver and that I would be hearing from him shortly. Approx. 4 hrs. later he calls to say that everyone is getting off work and NOW he says that I will have to pay $125 to have them delivered or I can pick them up at anytime.
