Man, I love Farm Patch. I try to go during off times so I can browse away from a crowd, but even when it is crowded I still find a lot of goodies. The produce is always better quality than the other groceries around (trust me, I've been to all of them) and they have a neat little air conditioned room now with some imported things that I haven't been able to find elsewhere in B/CS.
Price wise it is a little hard to compare because they have a larger selection than other stores, but usually I can walk out of here with 1 or 2 large paper grocery sacks of food for under $20, and well under $10 if I am being careful with what I am picking up! Over all I find I end up saving money (some things cheaper, some things more expensive) over going to HEB/Kroger for similar items, and it's better quality/fresher.
As other reviewers have noted there is a lot of fresh local produce here, but it is mixed in with your typical stuff from other states/countries and sometimes the local stuff doesn't last for even a day because it sells so quickly.
Service wise 9 times of 10 I have had a great experience, I think maybe once I had a cashier who was not friendly at all, but that was a while ago and I'm pretty sure I haven't seen her in there since. The regular employees that I've seen for the last 10 months or so I have been frequenting Farm Patch are all really friendly and knowledgeable and have more than made up for the one or two grump faces I've encountered.
Oh, and while this place is fine for your typical omnivore, for us vegans and vegetarians there are a few little bonuses :) Farm Patch has THE CHEAPEST tofu I have found in the B/CS area, fairly larger sized water packs for $0.99. The quality is great on it and for some reason it tastes fresher than what I've picked up elsewhere. They also have a few little goodies here and there in the refrigerator section in addition to all the fantastic produce that make this my #1 place in B/CS to recommend to vegans and vegetarians that follow a relatively whole foods plant based approach. There are also huge sacks of beans and rice for great prices in the little climate controlled room near the bathroom.
Last but not least another reason I love coming here is that there is always something different to try. I like to try to get something I've never eaten before every time I shop because it helps me broaden my horizons. One time I snagged some golden kiwis, another time I got some local small figs, another time I got a Hempstead yellow meated watermelon- it doesn't seem to matter how often I go, I always run across something I've never seen or had before so it's a nice...
ย ย ย Read moreAlexa and Grace were incredibly rude to us today. Unfortunately, we don't have many options for specific plants in BCS and we have to come here when we don't want to drive to Houston nor Austin. Today: We came to buy about $1ooo worth of trees. I went to ask where the large carts were at 6:20 pm. The girl at the register said "I don't know and, DO KNOW THAT WE CLOSE AT 7 PM?!!!!!!" I responded with" "ok. thanks." We went up and got only two trees that we could carry without a large cart. At checkout, my wife let the person know that we were treated horribly (for the 1000th time) WHILE CHECKING OUT AT 6:45 PM WITH ZERO HELP, AS ALWAYS, and Grace said, "I've never seen you before! AND YOU WERE WAY OVER THERE WHEN I SAID THAT so you could not have heard me! (TO MY SPOUSE; YES WE ARE 50, BUT CAN STILL HEAR) Check my credit card; we have paid over 50K for plants here. This is insane. I told her I was going to let the owner know that they were never going to help us and we would just have to drive the extra distance so that people won't treat us terribly. Very sad BCS. FYI we are white, but are bilingual and have always been helped by the Spanish speakers (yes we are white, but wife is bilingual) and treated horribly by the young, lazy checkout girls. Very Very Sad. We are just try to help replant this abused earth and save the habitat. ... ADVICE TO ALL HUMANS: GO THE EXTRA DRIVE ELSEWHERE!!!! so that no one makes you cry BUT DO NOT STOP...
ย ย ย Read moreI discovered this place for myself during the first few weeks of quarantine when I realized produce at other stores were disappearing and that there was a need to help local businesses. I was surprised to see that the place looked completely normal with all kinds of different produce, products, and gardening items in stock. Their backyard area is beautiful and I have returned multiple times to get plants for my front and back porch areas. I love the quality of their produce and can't believe that they have some of the international products they have. I spent 2+ years in the Georgia-Turkey area, and was shocked to find that Farm Patch had Borjomi mineral water, Turkish coffee and Dima brand juice, and Sulguni Cheese. These are hard to find products in major grocery stores, especially here in the BCS area, and yet they had them! I've recommended this place to a lot of people during quarantine and have turned a bit of business their way (probably about 6 new customers). I will continue to come for the products, service,...
