This tiny movie theater is an absolute gem! We were visiting the area from the suburbs of Washington D.C. for a long weekend of hiking and biking - we knew we'd experience lots of natural beauty but didn't expect to find this little cultural treasure. The theater seats about 30 people and every seat is a great seat - for its size the screen is large and immersive. The sound system is rich and clear with good volume. The proprietor is a great guy, full of good humor and solicitous of his patrons. He makes popcorn is an old-fashioned theater popcorn maker, charges an okd-fashioned low price and if the movie has already started he'll deliver it to you in your seat. You can bring your own wine - he supplies the wines glasses and doesn't even charge a corkage-fee. The movie we saw was a documentary about a French couple who were extreme volcanologists and it was brilliant - the kind of movie you'd normally have to travel into the heart of a big sophisticated city to see. A plaque on the wall shows an aggregation of all the wonderful movies he's shown is the special setting over the last 20 years and what a great collection it has been of wonderful, quality, small foreign and Indie films - The Micro- Theater is at the back of a building along the main drag through Buchanon- almost hidden. You walk back a little alley decorated with art and film posters to the back where you then see stairs down to the basement theater. The proprietor (whose name I've sadly forgotton) came to the from of the theater before the show to welcome the small crowd, acknowledge some regulars and give brief anticipatory remarks about the film we were about to watch.
