I stumbled upon this place while attending a wedding in Chicago. Since I was only in town for a few hours (11am to midnight), I needed a place to freshen up before the wedding (after a red eye flight and 6hr layover in Vegas). I initially booked a day hotel but wasn't tired when I landed in town. So I Googled "day spa" on maps, and this place popped up as the first option. After comparing many other spas, I opted for this one (although it was in the opposite direction of the wedding) because it met my needs. It appeared to have a big facility with different stations, dry sauna, wet sauna, steam room, swimming pool etc. And upon arrival, it was more than I imagined. The facilities were nice and clean. Big spacious locker room. There was a cold pool inside and also heated pool outside. The staff that attended to me while there was friendly and helpful. I bought a pair of swim shorts & slippers (didn't pack any cuz it wasn't in my initial plans), which they had in different sizes, and found my size easily! I felt a bit outta place initially, (especially being out of town & not a regular spa person) as it seemed like everyone knew someone there, and most people appeared to be regulars. However, I had an overall great experience, even got a massage (holistic healing session with Shak - whom I highly recommend!), and tried a few items from the menu at the Cafe, which was delightful! If you're in the area, stop by. I'd seen Chicago a few years prior and wasn't interested in sightseeing on my short trip, so this worked for me. Another note: I usually don't leave much feedback for places, let alone long ones, but because I'm so satisfied with this experience, well here you...
Read moreOH MY GOSH! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I went there ALONE around Jan.20th. Was the first one there. Had a âtourâ on Jan 11 so I knew the layout. Met a new group of friendly Russian men that were there prior to 3 pm opening hour. One guy-super friendly/accommodating giving me the run down on how to âspaâ like a real Russian! kool The co-ed hot âBaniaâ (Russian hot room) was SUPER HOT-love it. (Ladies cover ur hair in there with a towel to protect dry out) LOVE the âcold plungeâ pool. Alternate between the two. The outdoor in-ground pool is AMAZING! The water is 84 degrees and your surrounded by the snow and cold outside air! Ladies room has a deep hot tub w/sting jets. The dry, salt sauna has Himalayan salt squares to cleanse respiratory system too. Also they have a steam room-which is great if you prefer no bathing suit . The Russian guy brought over Borscht soup for me as I ate salad in the cafe. I didnât think Iâd get hungry while there. But OMG I was STARVED. Be prepared- youâll get hungry. Food was really good. They also have beer n vodka. I didnât drink cuz I get too sleepy. I was there from 3-7:30! I brought a scrubbie brush and after a couple hours of soaking, I did a body scrub in the shower. They have a traditional âoak leaf massage.â âGoogle â it. And a full body scrub w/sea salts. I want to get that soon. I HAVE NOT ONE BAD THING TO SAY ABOUT THIS SPA! Being 55, fit n fabulous- I loved sitting in the chairs by the cold plunge pool and watching the parade of male eye candy walking by! YUM! Almost everyone here is a foreigner and I LOVE that. They are so friendly, open, welcoming, warm, nice n helpful. Great conversationalists too. It was $39...
Read moreThis is my SPOT. I love it here! I get the 10 pack for admission and go any time my body needs it. The saunas are actually hot hot and there is a lot of variety.
I love love love LADIES DAY on Wednesday. Ladies day IS the main reason I buy admission in packs of 10. In fact, I would invite management to have more ladies days.
Yes, this place is very ethnic, but that's one of my favorite things about it. I truly appreciate the culture. I personally don't care that men stare at you in the coed area, but if that bothers you, it might be a consideration. It may just be cultural, I don't know, but its obvious that I am not Russian so nobody gives me problems. The staff is nice, but not overly so like we expect in the Midwest (again, it might be cultural?). For food, I usually get the borscht (needs salt) and plov. I like the meat blintz as well, but usually split bc it's heavy on its own. I did not like dumplings (bland, not enough butter).
If you go, be sure to bring water shoes, a water bottle, extra towel (theirs are small), bags to put your wet items in (they do not have suit dryers), and shower essentials (they...
