Patterson's — Local services in Burley

No customer service and poor sevice. Our appointment was moved to 3 pm for a stereo and back up camera installation. The car was dropped off the night before and the sales woman was informed I would be back at 5pm the next day to pick up vehicle. As a customer we rely on the sales and installation reps to schedule the appropriate time for their services. At 5pm we received no phone call to say hey we're running late or ran into difficulty we only received excuses.... "your dash gave them a bad time, we had to put in an upgraded part, your existing phone holder gave them a hard time (simply scewed in)etc.. At 5pm she asked us to return at 6pm. When it wasn't done at 6pm, more excuses were given with stating the installer is just bundling everything up it should be done shortly. at 7:10pm when the sales lady was getting into her car to go home there were additional excuses "your dash just gave him such a hard time etc..". Mind you this was a stock dash. She stated he's just finishing up threading a wire and then has a few screws to tighten up. Since we live 20 minutes away and gas is astronomical we waited in the parking lot, in the cold, in the car from 5pm to 8:30pm pm to have him roll it out, and the radio not work. The installer apologized over and over again and said we could wait another 40 minutes to have him dismantle and fix it or bring it in the next day. We chose to bring it home. The next morning my husband took it apart fixed it and put it back together in 10 minutes. Though I would never buy another stereo there or render their installation services I would suggest to Peterson's that they fire the sales woman. Harsh... yes, but consistently blaiming the customer's vehicle or the customer is not how buisness should be done. Take accountability for you changing the appointment on the customer. Take accountability that either you started late, had a bad day, things just weren't going right.. whatever.. but don't blame the customer or the vehicle for your actions and communicate with them. You certainly could have called to say hey we're running late or ran into some problems it won't be ready for another 3 hours, would you like to pick up your vehicle later tonight or tomorrow morning? l notice also those who have written bad reviews your response is to make excuses. A few weeks ago, I visited Patterson’s to browse for a new radio for my vehicle. As we entered, the older gentleman greeted us and asked how he could assist us. When we informed him that we were simply browsing, he insisted on trying to sell us something. Despite our clear indication that we were not interested in making a purchase, he persisted in interrupting our conversation. All I wanted was to look around without feeling pressured to buy something.

I understand the need to make sales, but when someone says they are just browsing, it would be appreciated if they gave them the chance to actually browse without feeling rushed. After acknowledging that we were browsing, he stood right over us as if we were about to steal something, just like he had lingered around, making us feel uncomfortable. As a result, we looked around for a bit longer and, once again, he persisted in trying to sell us something.

I understand that companies want to sell products, but not to the point where I feel compelled to buy something just because he felt I needed it. Sometimes, people just want to browse and see what’s available without feeling the pressure to make a purchase immediately. While Patterson’s has good prices and a wide range of options, the fact that I felt pressured and judged because I was just browsing made me hesitant to buy anything at that moment or in the future.

He also went on about how systems work, and when I explained that I had done my own installs in the past, he proceeded to talk to me as if I had no clue what I was doing, making me feel stupid. Don’t talk down to someone when you feel like you know everything. The way he carried himself made it seem like he was better than us just because of his “knowledge and a few years of experience.” We get it, you’ve been around, but don’t talk down to your customers in a way that makes them feel uncomfortable just to be in your store.

We made a mistake of going into the store where all we wanted was some browsing. Next time, if I do go back, I will definitely make sure he’s not around. I don’t need to be schooled...

We have had a terrible experience with this place. I would not suggest having any work done here. Bad comustomer service and bad work. We wanted to support local business and are very sorry that we chose to, in this case. We wanted to install a new touch screen audio system into our car with a backup camera. They made an appointment for us and told us it would take 2 hours. It took two days, they didn't get it done right and they drilled four holes into our bumper and were not willing to compensate for their own mistakes. When we finally got them to take 100 off of the 1000 dollar job they tried to guilt us into paying full price because we bought the system on discount. Then we take it home to California and find that our backup camera starts to act up. We check the wiring and they had the cord next to the exhaust pipe heating it up and messing with the camera. Then not but two weeks later our battery completely dies. At this point we don't know if it's the system or a bad battery, so we get a new battery and lo and behold it gets totally drained again. Now we have made a trip all the way back to get it fixed and they have done nothing but give us the run around, lie to us and fix nothing on the vehicle. No apologies, nothing. I've left a lot of the ridiculous shenanigans they have put us through out because it could be a crazy short story but in any case DO...
