George Stepanoff and the staff at Barbara Arons Pavilion Valley Medical Center have been absolutely wonderful in every way and my sister, Joyce, has greatly improved. It has been a lengthy and tedious process involving several, unfortunate incidents and even a few weeks of jail time due to her severe mental health issues - but things got much better.
George Stepanoff and the staff at Barbara Arons Pavilion Valley Medical Center are models for everybody in the Healthcare industry to follow and they deserve special recognition. They kept me informed every step of the way regarding Joyce’s progress and have consistently set the standard for excellence. They provide quality care, and are always courteous, professional, helpful, committed, competent, responsive, takes ownership, provides clear and detailed communications, and regularly provide feedback and follow-up all along the way.
When Joyce first arrived to Barbara Arons Pavilion Valley Medical Center, she thought everyone was trying to hurt/kill her, refused any kind of help at all, was uncooperative and combative in nature (fighting, kicking, biting, and such), refused to take any medications, ate minimally, sat in one chair and refused to move from it (day and night), would not talk to anyone or socialize, and would not shower or clean up after herself. And this went on for several weeks.
Today, Joyce is a completely different person. She now laughs and shares and socializes, eats and showers regularly, participates in group activities, can carry on conversations, and is well-liked by the staff and the patients there. Joyce, in fact, likes the staff and the facility so much that she didn’t want to leave when they were arranging for her transfer. Imagine that? Someone is housed in a locked facility, and she doesn’t even want to leave. I can’t think of a greater compliment than that.
In summary, the staff at Barbara Arons Pavilion Valley Medical Center have been absolutely outstanding and are worthy of special recognition. They live and support each of the County of Santa Clara Behavioral Health Services values and mission (https://bhsd.sccgov.org/about-us) each and every day, are a wonderful example of what excellence looks like, and serve as a model of what every professional who works in the mental health arena should aspire to become. They have really made a difference and God bless each and every one of...
