I have lived in Canyon Lake for going on 2 years, most recently living in North Tustin. My wife and I purchased a home in the community in order to enjoy the amenities that are offered. Recently, my wife purchased a Vanderhall for me as a present. A Vanderhall is a 3-wheeled autocycle that looks very much like a classic roadster. It has a Chevrolet engine, leather seats, Brembo brakes, sound system, etc. The 2nd time I took the vehicle out I was stopped at the gate and told I had to park the vehicle in the motorcycle lot because it is not allowed to be driven inside the gates. I explained I was coming from the grocery store and had perishables with me as well as several grocery bags, and was not able to walk them the 3/4 of a mile from the lot to my house. As a result, I was fined $150. I now have a $50K vehicle that I can not drive to my house, is subject to the weather, and is mostly unusable due to the ridiculous rules of the community. Since we have moved in, I can heartily attest that the POA is the worst I have ever experienced, the security is rude and uncaring, the enforcement of rules is arbitrary (I engaged a firm to do a survey of the community and in total 181 residences were not maintained to POA stated standards), numerous dune buggies have been driven through the community (not allowed as considered off-road), signs are posted that exceed size guidelines, fireworks go off constantly, gas powered golf carts (with emission levels and decibels far exceeding my Vanderhall) roar down the street at all hours (far exceeding the 20 mph posted limit), etc. In summary, STAY AWAY. We moved here because we were under the incorrect impression it was a secure community (absolutely not), the POA was reasonable to deal with (absolutely not), the guards were polite and efficient (absolutely not), property were maintained (absolutely not), and rights were protected (arbitrary at best).
UPDATE! `New Information So, we have a neighbor who has 3 GIGANTIC pine trees in their yard that have invaded our air space ABOVE OUR PROPERTY and constantly dump debris, pine needles, bird poop and God know what else on our property. PER THE POA - THIS IS OUR PROBLEM AND THE POA WILL NOT GET INVOLVED! They claim its a "neighbor-to-neighbor"...
Read moreSo my daughter goes to daycare in canyon lake, my dad took my car to work, because I have to get his serviced, I forgot to grab my driver license out of my car, so I had to take my expired driver license, poa would not let me though the gate because my license is expired, even though they have let me through many times with the expired I'd. They know I have a current driver license, they have seen it multiple times, they didnt care, they even knew I had a 2 year old with me they could care less. I had to walk all the way from east port where I parked my car, all the way past Mayflower on canyon lake drive. So ridiculous, oh and I asked if I could park my car at east port, they sIid your car will be towed if its left over night, I said all I want to do os take my daughter to day care, snd I will come right back. I park it at east port. Pos immediately runs into east port, and they put a tow away sign on my car. I can't believe poa would make me walk that far with a 2 year old in this heat. They know I have a current driver license....
Read moreI am a Grub hub driver, and I have been delivering food to Canyon Lake many times and yes even make numerous food delivery to the security office. On 8/1/2020 at 6:37 pm the security gate person name Patrick Potts was extremely difficult; he did not let me through and refused to look at my Grub Hub delivery order and refuse to call and contact the resident and say that it is my job to call. NO!!! it is his JOB. He made me turn around twice and finally let me through at 7:13 pm ( 35 minutes !). Oh, he let another Domino delivery guy through without a fuss. Not only that, he entered something which in my opinion racially offensive in nature on the guest card. Seriously !? You guys need to...
