Well, it hurts to do this but others should be warned. I have visited this establishment on several occasions. The gentleman who owns the store is friendly and chatty. We had spoke of the value of the business man these days and how much integrity had been lost by many business men's "word" not holding up to its value, as it use to. That is why I was shocked when I had the experience I did... I was in with my mother, who use to shop there once a year with her sister from out of state, spending plenty I might add. So, I found a neat little old box that looked like an old tool box of sorts, nothing fancy and for only $30. I probably shouldn't have, but decided to purchase it anyhow, afterall, we had had a great conversation and he was so friendly, I figured I'd give him the business. So I made my purchase...here is the first place I messed up, I paid no attention when signing the receipt that was handed to me...after all, it's one item, how much can go wrong in the transaction? It wasn't until I returned home the next day and had been scrolling through my online bank statement, that I realized I had been charged $300.00!! Surely it was a mistake as I told the gal that answered the phone at my credit union. She explained that I would need to call the store owner and have him dismiss the error. No problem...so I call and he says, "Ya i was surprised you hadn't tried to bargain the price at all"...The price was $30.00...I saw it, my mother saw it, my boyfriend and even another friend saw the price on the tag. Problem was I had tossed the tag upon my return home. When I tried to argue my point, practically in tears, explaining that I as a single mother would ever, could never, afford to purchase something of that price for myself, he tells me simply, "I have a sign on my door that has been there for 40 years, NO refunds!" I was devastated and so was my bank account. After the conversation we had about integrity and a business man's word...apparently, his means nothing to him. Sad but true story. I learned many hard and expensive lessons because of this store owner. CAUTION, CHECK THE TAG AND THE RECEIPT AND KEEP...
Read moreI am a resident of Canyonville and me and my wife shop for antiques all over the state. Recently my sister inlaw and my nephews came to visit us and they dropped into B&C antiques with my wife. My wife informed me that while in the store one of my nephews actually had the nerve to reach for an item near the front counter, the crabby old man physically grabbed his hand and said, " Can't you read, do not touch." I am thankful I was not was not with my family at the time. I am a retired, disabled military veteran that does not appreciate a man that would get physical with a juvenile child. Let the parents discipline the children, I would prefer you just ask...
