When 100% of the dining population is not wearing a mask and 100% of the serving population is wearing a mask you know there's something out of balance.
When I pointed this out to the manager he reminded me that everyone has a right to choose whether or not to wear a mask. I completely agreed with him, but when I pressed him further by asking why none of his employees choose to NOT wear a mask he immediately walked away from the table and said that he did not wish to discuss it any further.
Perhaps the worst part of this experience occurred when I went to pay the bill. I told him that I would no longer be patronizing his business. I also told him that in the past year I've spent over $1000 dining at his facility. He politely smiled and said no problem.
Then, when I turned my back and began to walk out the door he said to me that I should not have shared with my daughter(Who I was dining with) this adult issue. I then told him that this was no business of his and he then compared it to the fact that it was no business of mine to comment on the mask wearing at his business.
It does not take much intelligence to see there is no comparison to sharing a life lesson with your own child and speaking out against authoritarian control to decide whether or not to eat it at a restaurant. Therefore, I will never again eat at this restaurant! AND I encourage all people who read this to avoid this place based solely on their ridiculous behavior.
Beside all that, the food is...
Read moreThe food is authentic and very good. The restaurant can get a little busy Friday and Saturday evenings, making for a long wait for chips and salsa and drinks. In general service time slows considerably between the hours of 5:30-7pm on Fridays and Saturdays. El Paraiso also does not take seating reservations. All the food is really good and is worth the wait. If you know there is going to be a wait, you can relax and have a nice visit with your dinner partner(s). The Big Bertha Margarita is huge and is probably best for two people because it can put one person under the table or make them start thinking of dancing on top of it. LOL El Paraiso has a very good assortment of south of the boarder mixed drinks. The chips and salsa are okay. We were served only one kind of salsa and pico de gallo. We've become accustomed to the housemaid thinner chips and at least three different salsas, that we get at Mexican restaurants in Arizona but these were okay. There are an assortment of fajita meats. The fajitas come on the traditional, sizzling, cast iron skillet with the meat and sauteed peppers and onions and a plate of rice, refried beans, with a small amount of lettuce and tomatoes and a spoonful of sour cream and guacamole and taste...
Read moreWent to this restaurant on April 20th, and I must say the food was not only bad, but whoever the male cashier was swindles others. We ordered a side of rice, and solo carne for our kiddos. We receive the bill back, and we are charged for a carne asada meal, but never received a drink or beans with the “meal”. With this we were charged more, but told if they charged us separately it would cost more (which is not true). We then asked if we can get the remainder of the meal, the beans, and we are denied. Food was bland, rice was extra dry, drinks were watered down, and salsa had honestly tasted like it was a few days old. I definitely don’t recommend. Not sure what it is with restaurants in the area, but most have lacked culture as well as professionalism. Please read your receipts, and don’t let them pull one over on you. Lost our business for sure.
Also: the portions are extremely small yet you are charged as if it’s dinner worthy. The enchiladas we had ordered honestly were the size of flautas (fried, rolled up tortillas with stuffed meat). It’s all around not...
