My boyfriend and I wanted to camp out on Cayo Costa and it was our first time so we did not understand how to book everything. We knew that the major company to send campers out to that island was Tropic Star but they ended up being booked so we ended up finding Captiva Cruises and found out that we were the first campers to be sent out there. On our way to the island we were accompanied by a few Other tourists; however, on our way back we were the only two on the boat so it felt like it was a private boat just for us. This boat ride exceeded our expectations with the service they provided. Captain Michael gave us his phone number so that we could call him if we wanted to be picked up at the island earlier than the original time of 3:30. The next day we called up Captain Michael and the First Mate Susan to pick us up and they came at 1:00. Since we were the only ones on the boat it was easy to aboard compared to Tropic Star which was very crowded. Captain Michael and the First Mate Susan were very friendly to us and provided us with a vast amount of knowledge of the wildlife and information about Cayo Costa and the islands surrounding. On our ride we saw dolphins and manatees swimming and they even slowed the boat down to let us take pictures. All in all we would definitely recommend using this company if you want to try camping out at Cayo Costa or experiencing any of the Florida islands and tours their...
Read moreWe took the sunset cruise on the Lady Chadwick. If you look at my other reviews, you'll see that I often give 5 stars. Not this time. First the good: The crew and staff was nice. Boarding efficient and timely. The boat was clean. Arrival and parking easy and well organized. Weather great. But there were two major downsides: 1) Passengers were packed onto a broad deck crammed about as full as possible with plastic chairs and 4-top tables. See my attached picture (unfortunately I didn't take this picture to show the crowds, so you can't really see how crowded it really was). My wife and I were early, so luckily we were against the rail (although the 4-top table arrangement forced us to look more inward than outward). 2) The cruise travelled fairly slowly south along the narrow intercoastal waterway, with little feel of ocean, and a view that most times was surrounded by land masses in all directions. Not much "adventure." After this southerly trip, we returned to the north end of Captiva Island. Shortly before sunset the Captain went briefly through the gap of Captiva and North Captiva islands. He poked the stern out toward the ocean and held position for about 10 minutes as the sun set. Even standing, it was difficult to see the sunset from our table due to the deck arrangement and number of passengers. So... some aspects good and some...
Read moreFollowing our daughter's wedding at Chapel By the Sea on Captiva, we held the reception on board the Lady Chadwick departing from McCarthy's Marina. We were delighted with the experience! Bob and Jenny Rando and their team at Captiva Cruises delivered top notch service while relieving all of our anxiety and worries with their planning, effective communication, and attention to detail. We had a blustery day for the reception, but our captain and crew kept us safe and warm. We had 89 in our party, and they all enjoyed the cruise. Chef Karl from Sanibel Catering at Bailey's had plenty of experience working on Lady Chadwick, and the food and layout worked great even though most of our group stayed in the enclosed lower level of the ship. The weather cleared for sunset and for dancing on the top deck, and our crew navigated to Redfish Pass for a glorious closure to a perfect day for our newlyweds. Even a family of porpoises showed up to dance in our wake to help us celebrate. It was a wonderful, unforgettable experience, and we appreciated the kindness and courtesy of the team at Captiva Cruises for caring for our family, friends and guests. My wife Anna and I give our highest recommendation and deepest appreciation to Captiva Cruises for their special touches, caring service and...
