We Just thought we’d share our experience today. We arrived at the restaurant and waited 15 minutes for them to clean a table for us to sit in. Mind you there are at least twenty table only 4 were occupied so they had to clean tables that were left filthy. Four employees standing around talking to each other and on their devices as usual not one person ask us if we were being helped yet. Then our waitress finally came over and asked us what we’d like to drink. We ordered two beers that we’re supposed to come in frosted glasses but came in warm dirty glasses, not frosted glasses, the beer smelt sour, we had the mango wheat and the duck red but we drank it anyway my wife ordered the Maryland crabcake sandwich which was a joke we are from the Maryland and jersey area we know what those crab cakes should look and taste like and this was disgusting a cheeseburger Pattty at McDonald’s would be thicker and I honestly don’t believe it was crab it smelled like old seafood and it did not taste good and it was gray in color my wife couldn’t finish it. Our waitress is nowhere to be found for about 15 minutes after the food arrive , I ordered a simple mucky duck burger. I ordered it rare. Unfortunately the meat came out room temperature nowhere near rare, but definitely raw! again we waited so long we weren’t about to wait longer for them to spit in the food and bring it back to us. I asked if the air-conditioning was broken and they said no it just doesn’t keep up so good on hot days , I held back from laughing because that is the only time you need air conditioning. So overall, our experience was a 2 out of 10 the food was not delicious. It was not even good and was not prepared safely. It was raw and the seafood was old. However I personally like the atmosphere. I think it’s a charming old place And it has a wonderful history however it’s not being run properly. The management is obviously not paying attention to what’s going on and for the two of us to stop in and have a $70 lunch with only two beers and two sandwiches it was way over priced For its level of quality. We are not complaining people and even the table next to us had to have 2 out of three of their orders re made. We eat at all types of restaurants as our hobby so we understand quality and also understand when a restaurant is not being managed properly. What a shame I bet in its day it was great. Definitely a...

Rude and prejudice staff! Went to this restaurant with friends and family for just dessert and coffee. We had called ahead to ask if we could come and there was no mention of "we usually don't just serve desserts". So we got to the restaurant and we asked to wait in the bar waiting area. The guy who appeared to be the manager had such a sarcastic behavior he simply wouldn't look at us at first and then finally told us it would be a 15-20 minute wait (with a smirk on his face). Other patrons were walking in and were being seated after a few minutes of waiting. After almost 25 minutes of waiting we asked how much longer and he had the same answer..."you have to wait, we usually don't just serve dessert and coffee". No where on the website or menu does it say that....but we kept patient and ignored his smirking face. His attitude was almost discriminating, along with him a female manager was doing exactly the same, ignoring us and pretending to look busy by not even responding to our question. It was an unbelievable scene we couldn't believe what we were seeing.

I wanted to confront but waited to see how far they would go to make us wait so we would walk out....we wanted to see the level of their discriminating behavior...and it was appalling.

There were empty tables and we even suggested they seat the kids separately and adults on another table....but that was not done and the clown of the manager suggested we take our food and sit outside where there were no lights and it was cold...again an unbelievable response from this male host with a fake smile.

Kids had their mind set on desserts... So after almost an hour or waiting we ordered our food to go. Not an ounce of remorse or apology from the two hosts or managers! The tip line on the receipt make me laugh....I put a nice big zero for tip.

Desserts were put together in a sloppy manner with no flavor.

We had an amazing experience at every other restaurant while on vacation in Captiva and Sanibel Island except this sorry excuse of a shack with prejudice staff who were probably trained this way and feel it's totally OK to treat paying customers with such blatant discriminating behavior.

We visit the island every year with friends and will never go back to this establishment. Earlier the same day we had lunch and dinner at RC Otter's and the staff was friendly and welcoming with...

You would think after such a devastating hurricane that this business would be much more welcoming and accommodating to people traveling here to eat. Nope! And this is one of many reviews reflecting the terrible manager of this place and I’m fairly positive it won’t be the last with this type of management. I was with a party of seven and it was after a long day in the sun on the beach. 2 in our party are locals so this was a recommended place of choice and not our first time here. Since we had 2 dogs with us we were understandably not permitted in dining room. So outside seating was only option and since there was some incoming wind, no umbrellas were setup. Also understandable. However, there were many picnic style tables outside, none occupied by anyone as we were the only ones about to sit outside. There was only one spot of shaded area outside approximately 2 feet from where table was positioned in this informal area which as already explained, there was NO ONE else outside. Naturally we slid the table over no more than 2 feet into the shaded area. Again, not into any dangerous or inappropriate positioning that would harm or affect any patrons or staff. This rude man came storming out flailing his arms at us like he was about to prevent a tragic event from occurring and stopped us from being in shade. Something about moving this special and apparently protected table set this angry person to rudely stop us and not once try to be cordial or accommodating in anyway. If this man had just kindly came over to explain whatever important reason there might have been with this special table, we would have obliged and still sat in the direct sunlight. Needless to say, we all left and went somewhere else off the island. Which was actually a blessing in disguise because where we ended up was much better food. The only good thing I can say about this place is the view and location. If you want mediocre food and terrible service, give this place a try. If you enjoy any type of respect and human decency, stay away. Read the other bad reviews. I’m surprised this place still...

Everything about our visit to Mucky Duck turned out great. They have a great location with a marvelous view of the Gulf of Mexico and serve up great meals that the whole family loved. Their crunchy grouper sandwich and seafood pastas from the Specials Board today were excellent. We were concerned when we pulled in about finding parking, but there was an attendant whose job was to keep the non-customers from using their lot and showed me a place I could park that I would have assumed was too small because it was on the end. Parking border the beach itself, so without the attendant, beachgoers may try parking here. My car fit, so we parked and went in. The inside was small too but we got a table without waiting. We ordered and were served by a friendly and efficient waitress. She checked in with us frequently as we dined and kept our drinks filled. A tip for those who visit that are taller than 6'2 or so - Watch Your Head while walking through the place, many ceilings are very low for tall folk! Also, check out the place's history by looking at the walls, ceiling and menu, and find the reason some call it the Lucky Duck. It's a remarkable story. We plan to return to Mucky Duck. It seems to be the type of place where everything on the menu is really good.

We parked in the lot at 11am and walked up to the door. A nice young lady opened the door and told us they opened at 1130. She said it was okay to park where we were. We thanked her and said we would see her for lunch at 1130. A few minutes later while I was pouring a ginger ale an older gentleman came over and told me beer wasn’t allowed on his beach. I said it’s not beer it’s ginger ale. He told me that we couldn’t park there at which I explained our conversation with the young lady at the door and we were going to have lunch at 1130. He raised his voice (RUDELY ) to me explaining parking is a premium and that there was public beach parking down the street. Once again I said we were having lunch at his restaurant at 1130. He rudely responded that we could have lunch and then had to leave and he just walked away. We decided that we wouldn’t spend our money there and just left. I will never ever spend money at a place of business that has an owner who speaks to customers or even anybody in this rude and inconsiderate manner!!! Thanks and ✌️.

PET FRIENDLY on their patio, which is right next to the beach. Friendly servers, fun, English vibe inside (we dined on the patio). I liked the separate bar service outside with a good selection of spirits and beers. Had the BBQ Bacon-wrapped shrimp-it was a good dish, but it was so hot it melted the Styrofoam plate it came on. So, serving on a different dish would help with the presentation value a bit. Main dishes we had were the Grilled Pastrami & Pesto, which was served Panini-style and was very tasty. The melding of melty flavors was a nice lunch option. My wife had the fresh-catch Crispy Grouper Sandwich, which was awesome. Seemed like it was breaded in Corn Flakes, but it made the "crunchy" part of the dish stand out. It was so fresh & flaky, and the tartar sauce provided just was the best compliment. It was about a 1/3 of the size of a big Pork Tenderloin sandwich you'd find at the state fair, but it was great. Highly recommend, especially if you're on the way to Bowman's Beach!
