I accumulate an abundance of clothes, as a result of the industry I work. I am consistently selling clothing to a variety of shops. When I discovered Uptown, I decided to sell my clothing there. I wrote a full review on Yelp detailing the matter, so I am sharing the edited version here.
Long story short, the accepted several of my clothing, however, in hindsight, the way they did it was questionable and I didn’t realise this until I had already left…they removed the clothing from my sight, versus the other shops I visit, where they go through each piece.
When I arrived home, I realised they had accepted a gently used All Saints leather jacket that cost over $400 with tax. I was 100% appalled. I wrote a lengthy review on Yelp, the owner acknowledged the oversight by a “new” employee in response to my review, yet, she offered no resolution at all.
Uptown Cheapskate is not a business that operates with integrity, therefore, I am happy to take my business elsewhere. Regarding selling clothes, I have always had great success at Crossroads, Buffalo Exchange, and Wasteland. For designer pieces, I prefer The Real Real and...
Read moreIn the past I have gone in and it's been better. I am not sure what happened? This time I was disappointed. I took a bag of clothes and shoes and the whole time she looked through them she was distracted talking back and forth with the coworker hardly looking at the items. Some of the items were expensive and name brands in perfect condition and she tells me they are not going to take anything from my two bags because they are more old style and now they're being more picky. How funny! Because I looked at all of the shelves in the store and most everything in there is very old style. Hardly anything new. I mean it's a second hand store. It really threw me off. I felt like she wasn't even paying attention while she was talking the entire time with the co-worker turning her head to look at the other coworker and the other coworker was very distracting as she was looking through the items. Then she asked me if I wanted to donate my items. No thanks. I'm going to Buffalo exchange...
Read moreNot even trying to be petty I usually dont google review places... but this place is actually ridiculous. Ive given it multiple tries throughout the years to try and avoid plados but this place is no better, especially for selling clothes. I gave them new $200 shoes and they gave me LITERALLY $5 for them. And recently I brought in a bag full of worn once or NWT from the past 6 months zara, isabelles cabinet, princess polly, edikted dresses & skirts and they took not one thing. And then didn't call me to tell me my stuff was ready so I was just waiting for an hour and a half until I finally asked... Also they are consistently rude and almost every employee has made me feel so uncomfortable and disrespected. They will talk down on you as if they are running some luxury store. And after giving you $5 for $200 shoes, they will sell them in the store for $150. Its so overpriced its crazy! Highly recommend...
