We had the opportunity to work with Community at two of their locations over about a month. We were in search of a new vehicle but then had an accident which totaled our family vehicle so our needs changed. If I had just worked with the sales people this would have been a 5 star review. We worked with a few different sales people as our needs changed & they were all professional & they worked hard to find us a vehicle that was a perfect fit. With 5 kids the last thing I want is to jump into a new vehicle that's not exactly what we need & want.
Our big disappointment was with Kevin in finance. Every time we spoke to him he made us feel like his only concern was to get us to come in & sign paperwork on any vehicle even if it wasn't a good fit for us. He tried to convince us to buy a brand new Honda Civic that we were approved for AFTER we told him our family mini van was totaled and we needed to look at options for replacing it. A Civic for a family of 7? Worst of all when the sales people found us an almost perfect option on a beautiful used mini van Kevin lied to us when we asked him specifically if they had checked a certain feature on the vehicle. When we checked it ourselves & pointed out that he had been dishonest with us he blew it off and didn't even apologize for his dishonesty. I explained to him that we felt committed to working with Community over other dealerships with similar, lower priced vehicles, after the sales people had worked so hard to help us but he really frustrated us when he deliberately mislead us and he had NO response. No, I'm sorry, my mistake, I understand & we appreciate you sticking with us, nothing! He argued with us about the feature in the vehicle asking why it wasn't good enough for our family instead of asking how we could make it a perfect fit. He tried to include an extended warrantee on our purchase agreement after we had told him a few times that we didn't want it. We ended up financing through a local credit union after we got an interest rate that was 9% LOWER than the rate Kevin got us approved for!
I didn't really appreciate the way the handle some other things that came up but since I have limited experience with the other issues & limited knowledge on the best way to handle them I'll reserve my feedback.
The last straw for us was the day we went in to purchase the vehicle. We sat down with Nate (our awesome sales person) & outlines what we thought would be a good deal. He said he needed to speak with Sam (who we assumed to be a manager). While we were waiting and sitting in the showroom we heard someone yell loudly "they either take it home today or the deal is dead!" Then moments later the same voice screamed "Get out of my office!" Kevin & Nate both walked out of an office at that point and we decided we had heard enough. It was disappointing to hear a manager speak so unprofessionally to their employees & I wouldn't want to take my chances being their customer.
We left & bought a vehicle elsewhere. The day after we bought our new vehicle something came up that needed fixed & the dealership we worked with fixed it immediately & gave us a vehicle to drive during the repair. We both agreed we were glad we didn't work with Community because we doubted they would have handled the...
Read moreMostly positive, but we still have one unresolved issue that's preventing the 4th and 5th stars. My wife's '09 Pilot a few years ago had the leaky washer fluid reservoir issue and I ordered a new one. It arrived and it was several months before I had time to replace it. When I did get around to starting the procedure, the Honda parts warehouse had sent the wrong reservoir and when I went to their parts desk to return it and get a refund, they said they couldn't send it back. I never got a straight answer as to why, but it was a really expensive part and it's still sitting in our garage. Not exactly worthy of a 5 star review in my view. It was certainly not MY fault the wrong part was sent regardless of the elapsed time that had transpired between purchase and return request. Another parts issue that involved our daughter needing new disc brake rotors and brake pads for her '09 CRV, I urged her to buy the OEM rotors and pads from the dealer. She agreed and what she brought home from the dealer was not OEM Honda parts, but rather parts made in China and Taiwan and not one of those boxes had a Honda logo on them. She was charged well over $500 for aftermarket parts and despite my recommendation that she return them and get REAL Honda parts, she wanted her car back on the road ASAP and I reluctantly installed the lesser quality items . Charging OEM prices for Chinese garbage is not what we expected from a Honda dealer, but since it was her money, and car, I chose not to rant about it at your dealership.
The bottom line is this ......none of this acrimony would have been publicized EXCEPT for the fact that I've been solicited multiple times via text to give a review on Community Honda. Had you used my wife's cell number. you might have received a less harsh response.....or none at all. YOU FOLKS wanted my opinion and you got it. Sometimes it might be wise to just let sleeping dogs...
Read moreI took my 2024 Oddessey in for first time service. It was a last appt of the day, left the service department ran a couple errands then started out of town when the “open hood” came up on my dash in all red. I immediately pulled over to shut the hood only to not be able to get it to latch. I hadn’t had a problem before taking it to have it serviced. I tried calling Community Honda! No answer! So I reluctantly yet very slowly drove back 3 miles to the dealership hoping someone was still there. There was a lady still in the service department that came out and tried several times to get the hood to latch without success. Then said to me you will need to come back tomorrow all the service guys have left for the day. So here I am 100 miles from home with my 4 yr old grandson and a car with a hood that has a red warning sign telling me the hood is open (not safe to drive) and this lady is telling me to come back tomorrow!! I let her know that wasn’t happening so then she started to mess with the hood latch. There was something that she was able to get loose and the hood did latch and stay latched to get me home. This was a very unacceptable answer for any service person to give to a customer. Safety should always be a number one priority!! This was my first and last purchase and service experience with Community Honda in...
