I was visiting Cedar Rapids for a wedding and hit up a handful of toy collector shops. Toy Lair stuck out as the area's winner for me in terms of selection and pricing. I left with an assortment of exciting (for me!) used Star Wars pieces, all of which were priced well below eBay. Two of the pieces were on the larger side, so one of the employees went into the back and got me the perfect-sized box.
The employees were pleasant, too, and the shop was simply fun to be in. It was clean, bright, and had a fun setup in the front window with some old-school Nintendo action happening. Good stuff!

The toy lair has such a great vibe and atmosphere when you walk in, feels like a safe haven for your inner child and/or collector! Everyone that I’ve come in contact with there has been great, super cool, easy to talk to and knowledgeable about the collectible community. I’ve made several purchases so far and have enjoyed them all. The owner and his staff are great! They're very knowledgeable of the vintage toy/video game market. They're definitely fun to talk to and reminisce about the vintage stuff.
I'm not knocking Toy Lair by any means... their prices are definitely on the high end of the spectrum, so check eBay and other sources online to compare.
I don't mind paying a little bit extra to local businesses to buy things I collect.
However, I know the mark-up on many items is definitely exuberant in the collector market since...
