Juicy Crab Island — Restaurant in Cedar Rapids

Insane! We stopped in at 5 on a Saturday. Maybe like 3 tables total. There was a table who though it was OK to let their kids run wild while the parents got drunk. The staff asked them to control the kids as they were running wild and drinking alcoholic beverages from "moms" cup. Eventually the table and staff got into a fight. Screaming and throwing things, basically everyone immediately left. The "owner" is friends with the disruptive people that were just hammered letting their kids run wild and drink out of their alcohol drinks, then proceeded to rip off jackets and throw chairs because they were apparently "disrespected" as that is "what kids do" and were about to fight, however that didn't happen but might as well have, as CRPD came and "broke it up"

We were not about to be involved in what we were seeing, so just watched knowing CRPD had been called and knowing this location they would be there immediately.

We just wanted to eat, so we waited it out for over an hour until our food finally came. I'm still mind boggled over how 1lb of crab and 1 lb of shrimp could take an hour to prepare when it was literally and empty place after the insane drama with the staff and "customer" Food was OK at best. I wholeheartedly give this place a 10 out of 10 recommendation! 😛 From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the tone for an exceptional dining experience. Our waitress was nothing short of amazing; she was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout our visit, ensuring that we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal to the fullest.

Now, let's talk about the food! It was nothing short of divine—truly a culinary delight! We decided to indulge in two different seafood combos, and we couldn't resist adding mussels to our order, along with some mouthwatering fried catfish. The catfish was perfectly cooked, soft and tender, with a delightful crunch on the outside. The seafood was seasoned with a spicy Cajun flair that brought a burst of flavor with every bite. I believe the sauce accompanying the seafood was a delicious garlic lemon concoction that complemented the dishes beautifully.

Every element of the meal was thoughtfully prepared, and it was evident that the chefs take great pride in their work. I left the restaurant feeling completely satisfied and eager to return for another round of their heavenly dishes. Without a doubt, I will be back to enjoy this incredible dining...

First time being there was nothing but EXTREMELY disappointing. Building was bone dry, maybe one other customer however it took a solid hour just to receive our food in 4 different trips. There was no communication between servers, cooks or us. We got seated in the back (out of sight out of mind) and were never checked in on or asked if we wanted refills. Staff was clueless and “tired” on a Sunday night. The food was below sub-par, customer service was only there when they came to collect our money. We voiced dissatisfaction and were not prompted with a discount or anything other than a “I’m sorry” after a 2 hour round trip. The crab leg meat was almost non existent, the Mac and cheese smelled and tasted spoiled, the cabbage was extremely flimsy and flavorless, main course was also fairly flavorless. This is not a bang for your buck nor even close-to establishment.
