Tonight, I experienced both racial and gender discrimination from the female cashier with red-dyed hair and her colleague (also a female staff member).
I was simply in line to pay for a jacket I had purchased. When I approached the cashier, I mistakenly thought it was my turn, unaware that there were two separate lines. Upon realizing my mistake, I stepped back and patiently waited for my turn. However, the cashier took offense and began rolling her eyes, then proceeded to mock me in front of her coworkers. She made dismissive comments about my inability to understand how the line worked, then switched to speaking in Spanish, assuming I wouldn’t understand.
To make matters worse, her colleague called me "embarrassing" directly to my face, over what was nothing more than a minor misunderstanding. I didn’t say a word to either of them.
As if that weren’t enough, when I started paying with my card, the cashier made a smirk then told her workmate that I should have used the self-checkout if I wanted to pay without hassle.
I was so humiliated by the experience that I couldn’t even respond and simply muttered "thanks" as they completed my transaction.
As a gay man from the Philippines, visiting Cerritos for the first time and excited to purchase this jacket, I never expected that a simple mistake would lead to such blatant discrimination and public embarrassment.
I urge the management of this store to provide better training on customer service and respect. These two staff members should be held accountable for their unprofessional conduct, as there is no place for this kind of behavior, especially in 2024 from a company that prides itself on...
Read moreVery rude employees! Tried to refuse to honor the price written on the item I want to purchase. When I pointed out to the cashier (lady with red hair) that she scanned the item price that’s different to the posted price, she rudely muttered something under her breath and then denied saying anything after I asked her to repeat what she had just said.
On top of this, when my husband pointed out the LA county consumer law sticker posted behind the CASHIER SCREEN that indicates the “customers are entitled to the lowest advertised/posted price”, the cashier abruptly turned the screen to look at the sticker and rudely said “I don’t know what that sticker is or why they put it there, I don’t even know what that means.” WHAT? She’s a cashier and she doesn’t know LA county law which their store policy should abide by?
And finally, she was rude to my husband when he asked to speak to a manager. Then, as if to affirm the cashier's actions and unnecessary comments, all the other employees behind the counter just kept saying “well it’s a brand new item, why was it tagged with a discount?” "It should not be discounted" “And it’s the only one by itself too”. How is that my problem as a paying customer? What they just tried to do which is charge me the higher price, is...
Read moreAWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE from a manager. :( With my daughter in the hospital I went into this Zara with 2 shirt, tags attached w/o a receipt due to me washing it. I wanted to have her choose something in stock to exchange since she can no longer wear the shirts. The first manager completely understood. He told me to have her choose something offline and come in store to do an even exchange just for another item since she could physically no longer wear the shirt and wouldn't be able to get to the mall for a while. He said to take her time to choose since this would happen again. With not being able to go try on clothes, after a couple months she found a jacket for the even exchange price. I went in, that manager was no longer there. I was connected to the women's manager who I explained the situation to. She in return REFUSED to make the accommodation. I asked her why and she said it isnt the policy and even though the previous manager would have she would not. Her words. "I don't want to have my name attached to it" I then politely, in a flustered tone asked please for the CS service number and her name. To top it off she REFUSED TO PROVIDE HER NAME. I specifically ask, so you are refusing to provide your name?...
