I usually enjoy shopping at this meat market and have always liked their Al Pastor—it’s well-marinated and usually has great flavor. However, my recent experience was disappointing. I bought 6 pounds of Al Pastor meat, and after going through it at home, I found 1.57 pounds of it was just pure fat—large chunks with absolutely no meat on them. That’s over 25% of what I paid for, and frankly, I don’t think that’s acceptable. I went back to the store to let them know, and the clerk tried to justify it by saying “that’s how pork is,” and that she really shouldn’t have to replace it. I understand some fat is normal, but these were whole slabs of fat that could have easily been trimmed out. I don’t think it’s professional to include that much unusable product, especially when people are paying for meat, not waste. While I’ve had good experiences here before, it seems like quality is a hit or miss. This time was too much of a miss. I hope they take this feedback seriously and make some changes, because the seasoning and potential are there—but no one wants to pay for fat. I have included the pictures showing the meat AFTER going thru it and removing the fat, I also included the picture of all the fat that came out(mind you this from the meat that was “reimbursed” 1.58 pounds)

Love Don Javier Meat Market!!! If you're looking for a chill place to grab authentic Peruvian products, Don Javier Meat Market is my favorite spot. It’s a local gem where you can find all the Peruvian goodies you miss — rocoto peppers, huacatay, chuño negro, chuño blanco, maíz chulpe, etc. They also have tasty cookies like charadas, casinos, marquesitas, chocolates like sublime, triangulo, ole ole, and snacks that remind me of home like Habas and trigo pop!! The staff is super friendly and always ready to help you find what you need. It’s a great spot to pick up ingredients for your favorite Peruvian dishes like ceviche, causa, or ají de gallina. (Don’t forget to grab your Inka Kola and your Borgogna Wine.) If you’re part of the Peruvian community or just love Peruvian food, I definitely recommend checking out Don Javier Meat Market. It’s the perfect place to get authentic ingredients and support a local business that truly understands Peruvian flavors and needs.

I bought from here through To good to go. It's a way for businesses to sell what was left over by the end of the day and not go to waste. It's supossed to be a win win. I bought 2 bags and paid a total of 10.80. Each bag states originally listed at 18.00 each. What I received in each bag was egg with potatoes in one container and pork rib in marinade in another. Each in 4 oz cups. I understand we don't know what we are getting, but I do have a problem when the pork has nothing but bones and fat in a container, (I am not a dog and don't consider this edible) and what I'm really left with is the potatoes and eggs which I could have made myself. Nothing about this was worth 18.00 and sure not worth the 10.80I paid. I'm all for supporting businesses and the community. If I was eating in the restaurant, I would send this back. What makes this any different. I even took a picture of it. I will never go here again. Just beware.

This was our 2nd time here and I was absolutely displeased with how they treated us and their employees. We came in to order food and drinks. They gave us the cups and lids to fill out drinks. As my husband is grabbing his straw an putting on the lid, whom I assume is the owner, starts being loud and rude with my husband In Spanish and pointing to some sign (wich by the was is ONLY in Spanish) I then Proceed to tell him he doesn't READ or SPEAK SPANISH! And starts being loud with me as well about his sign and how we aren't supposed to make our drinks. UHMMM excuse me but if you want people to know what your sign says then MAYBE IT SHOULD SO BE IN ENGLISH too, or put your drinks behind the kitchen if its that big of a deal! Your customers are not ONLY Spanish speaking/reading. He then proceeded to be loud with the employees too for giving us cups. Over all we won't be back, totally rude and disrespectful...
