Long story short: They do a good job with people whose hair is straight or maybe wavy. If you have African American hair, this is not the place for you. They do not know how to apply different techniques to us. GO SOMEWHERE THAT DEALS WITH YOUR HAIR TEXTURE AND TYPE.
I originally went in with my hair already washed and deep conditioned. My request was to get my hair blow-dried so I could get a haircut. (I did mention that I didn’t need my hair to be completely straight because I intended to leave with a cut and then go back home to wash and style.)
Upon coming in, I mentioned to my stylist that I had deep conditioner in my hair (I wanted to ensure my hair was soft and did not cause my stylist too much frustration with detangling). Unfortunately, and to my surprise, I was asked by my stylist (though she was nice) if I was ready to begin the blow-drying process. I then had to ask her to take me to the wash station to rinse out the deep conditioner before she started blow-drying. I would think that would be common knowledge for a stylist.
Once I got to the chair to begin blow-drying, another stylist came to help my stylist to speed up the process. As I mentioned earlier, I wasn’t asking for perfectly straight hair, but they kept blow-drying multiple times as though they wanted me to leave with it styled. My hair definitely didn’t look good enough to wear down outside. So if that was the expectation they had for themselves and for me, I would say it was NOT WORTH IT based on how the blowout looked.
Continuing on, the stylist who was helping stepped away due to other obligations, and another stylist came in. The middle of my hair is short (personal), and the new stylist starts asking if it was from breakage. I said no, but she kept touching that area, judging, and mentioned, “It’s very soft though,” before going to sit down with a group of girls while staring at my hair. For the record, my hair isn’t rough. The issue I’ve been trying to be proactive about (which is why I came) is the middle, which is probably 6 inches compared to the rest at shoulder length. I get cuts so my hair can grow out healthy.
When it came time for a cut, I got a quick 2-minute haircut that was just a blunt cut all around. I was expecting a detailed cut, ensuring my split ends were trimmed. I specifically mentioned that the middle portion, though short, needed to be cut because I could feel the split ends, and since I’m working on the health and growth of my hair, I wanted that area cut well.
In the end, I spent $90 on a bad blowout, terrible cut, and judgment. Wasn’t worth it for...
Read moreDebated writing this review for a while because I wasn’t totally sure on my feelings on my haircut, but I have now had enough time washing and styling my hair since my cut about a month ago to express them. TLDR: I’m currently waiting for my hair to grow out so I can fix it. For the $120 + additional tip I paid for the haircut, it is far too expensive for me to be unhappy with the results.
I booked a cut with Eunice after finding her online based on the reviews online and her instagram after my stylist I had been seeing at a different salon moved away recently. She herself is super funny and is probably fantastic I think depending on the hair type you have. She also dry cuts (no hair wash) if that is important to you either way. The salon itself is bright with easy parking in a big strip mall lot, although the turn coming off the highway can be tricky if using Google Maps for some reason.
For me, my haircut has ended up looking like one separate “lob” like length and then the rest of my hair very clearly separated (I’ve attached pictures to show what I mean + the reference photos I showed for the vibe I was looking for). It looks OK if I style it in a particular way but that’s also the opposite of what I expressed in that I’ve always let my hair air dry naturally with very minimal if any styling. Strangely enough, I also am not convinced both sides are cut the same? One side looks better than the other. I’m not sure if it was a combination of my hair texture (can be puffier with some waves) which she did know about the waviness as she pointed it out then straightened it before cutting, being a last appointment of the day and running 5-10m late due to a wrong turn on the highway (communicated in real time) which could have added to the rushed feeling I had, or what other factors that may have contributed to the cut I ended up with but all in all I personally...
Read moreI cannot say enough amazing things about Tanya and my experiences at Ash & Willow Hair Co. Tanya is extremely talented, and I recommend anyone looking for hand tied hair extensions to book a consultation with her. I literally couldn’t be any luckier that I found her. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I first went in for a consultation for hair extension after I went through an extremely stressful time in my life, which caused my hair to start falling out and thin. I was nervous about the entire process, but I instantly felt comfortable with her. After the first initial install with Tanya, I was hooked. The quality of her hair extensions are phenomenal, and she provides in-depth instructions to preserve the life of the extensions. I have now been going to her for the past four years and wouldn’t dream of going to anyone else!
Tanya is extremely professional and knowledgeable, and at the same time, very personable, caring, and easy to talk to while I’m in her salon. She knows exactly what will and won’t work for my type/texture of hair and has guided me through the entire process. I started out with shorter extensions that I LOVED, and I slowly worked up to the 22” extension I have now. She always go above and beyond to make sure I am satisfied with how everything looks, and she has boosted my confidence immensely with her work. Just look at the pictures. How could I not feel confident? :)
And her studio? BEAUTIFUL! Her studio is extremely clean, comfortable, and made me feel extremely safe (especially with her COVID-19 protocols and precautions). The atmosphere is modern with tons of natural light. She has snacks and drinks available, awesome music playing in the background, and provides a level of attention to her clients that truly gives for a VIP, five...
