This was a very minor battle, mostly an afterthought of Bull Run, but one biggest battles in noVA during the Civil war. The park itself occupies about 15-20% of the original battlefield, but allows for a good look of the terrain. There is a 1/2 mile or so track that surrounds the park allowing for the visitor to read through nine different placards that describe the unfolding battle of Ox Hill and some of the main characters. Really, I would never have guessed a battle was fought in that area. It is an island of tranquility in a city. Green grass, mature trees, squirrels and rabbits and birds. Very lovely.

The Battle of Ox Hill is where Union Generals Stevens and Kearny fell, and the signage well conveys the drama and tragedy of the battle.
