On July 10th, I mailed the original certified copy of my birth certificate to my son in Fairfax, VA. It was sent international tracked and signed from the UK, not cheap! All went well until it arrived at the Chantilly PO, who promptly lost it, citing "insufficient address". My son visited the post office, where the staff were most rude to him. All they would say was that they couldn't give it to him, saying I would have to call from the UK to verify who he was. I tried, several international calls, transferred to somewhere in the system (promptly causing international phone charges), and put on hold until each call was cut off, so I started a lost mail search. The letter was promptly found, and with the correct, complete address on it! Not even any damage to the envelope, which my son photographed for proof. Usually, when I send tracked mail to my son, it goes from the Merrifield PO straight to his house without a detour to Chantilly, and arrives within 5–10 days. Read more⚠️ WORST customer service I’ve ever experienced — completely unprofessional and disrespectful staff!
Review: This place is absolutely horrible — like hell on earth. A few days ago, they lost my package, and since then, I’ve been calling nonstop, trying to get answers. Every single time, I either get ignored, hung up on, or told to “call back later.” No one has made ANY effort to actually help me or take responsibility.
Today, I decided to go in person to finally get this resolved. I arrived at 5:00 PM, a full hour before they close at 6:00 PM. The employee at the counter told me to stand by the window and wait. I stood there patiently, assuming they’d help me once they finished with the current line. Instead, I watched them take every single other customer, one after another, while I was left completely ignored.
They helped everyone else, even people who came in AFTER me, and when it was finally closing time, they still didn’t even acknowledge me. When I finally spoke up and asked, “Is anyone going to help me?” they didn’t apologize or explain — instead, they looked me dead in the face and told me,
“Make your way out of the building.”
So not only did they waste an entire hour of my time, but they were blatantly disrespectful, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. No explanation, no apology — just kicked me out like I was nothing.
This is by far the worst experience I have EVER had with any business. Their employees clearly don’t care about their customers or doing their jobs. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and reporting this location to the Post Office headquarters so this doesn’t happen to anyone else.
If you value your time, your packages, and being treated like a human being, DO NOT come here. This place is a...
Read moreI would rate with lower if possible. My package was marked as undeliverable to my apartment. I attempted to call this office no less than 30 times over the course of 4 days for them to hold my package until I could take off of work to come pick it up. To no avail, they did not answer the phone, not once. Upon arriving at the office (at 4:50pm) there was a relatively long line with one lady working the counter while two others counted their money drawers. I finally made it to the front of the line (at 5:10pm) only to be guided to step aside and wait for someone from the back to assist me. I waited for another 5 minutes for someone to assist. I explained to the gentleman my situation and he then told me he would have to go search the facility. After waiting another 15 minutes, the gentleman could not find the package. He then took down my information to see if he could locate it online. The tracking shows this facility still has the package but no one can seem to locate it. They took down my information once again and stated they would notify me the next day after speaking to the carrier as to the whereabouts of the package.
Not only is the post office location service poor, the carrier is absolutely awful. Everyday, I get my neighbors' mail. In the 2 months, live lived at my address, I've only received my mail 1 time. I'm not sure where my mail has been going. I would assume to other addresses who simply toss it out.
I may revise my review if this matter gets resolved but I think this office needs to be reviewed but...
