EDITED AFTER OWNER RESPONSE: Owner trip to house was waste of her time and mine. GM had mucked up the reassembling of picture too badly. And the sample selected during home visit was not the same as what was delivered. Issues experienced with this store had nothing to do with any experience elsewhere. Comment is irrelevant information.

Horrible service.

1. Made 5 trips to store (28 miles round trip) over 4 weeks to select and inspect samples.
2. 1st frames came in a different color than sample. Staff couldn’t locate the 1st sample and weeks later I learned the Mgr had thrown it away. Thankfully, I had photos to verify the difference.
3. 2nd frame selection, same thing. Before making trip to inspect, owner told me 2nd selection matched sample. She should have her vision checked because it clearly did not match sample; Mgr agreed.
4. Worked with Mgr to determine next steps and reorder frames a 3rd time, left store feeling OK with path forward…until…owner called and told me she didn’t like my “attitude.” Totally unsubstantiated, she said it was “just a feeling.” That was the final straw. I canceled the order on the spot and requested full $1900 refund. I hung up but the owner called back to say we’d been disconnected. I explained I had nothing further to say; we were even. She started to yell. II told her to stop, we were done, and I hung up again.
5. Took 2 days and multiple calls to process the refund.
6. After 1st frame mismatch, the GM had taken apart a perfectly good picture brought in for a color comparison and couldn’t reassemble it correctly. Using very poor judgment, she thought there would be information on the back of a 35+ year-old frame that could be used to order something similar. Bad idea. She slapped it back together using different materials and when rehung, frame was a full inch lower than companion pictures. Her solution: lower the wall hook. Seriously. When confronted with the issue on the phone, she hung up – twice. Owner also attempted to fix frame and failed. Result: a customer-owned picture had been damaged for no good reason. I spent 5 hours cleaning off what the GM messed up, redoing the backing, using my own materials since GM had trashed the original wire and screws. Lesson learned: don’t ever let them let them mess with your property without a full understanding of what they will do to it. I should have cancelled the project then.
7. Shortly after the cancelled sale the owner started sending spam marketing emails. The gall. (What small retailer needs an owner, GM, Mgr, and assistant – in addition to other staff?...

I recently had the pleasure of working with the staff at the Frame & Print Shop to have two prints expertly framed, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the results! The process took just 3 weeks from start to finish, which was a reasonable timeline, and the team at Frame & Print Shop kept me well informed about the expected completion date throughout. Becky and her colleagues are true artists with a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of the art of framing. Their thoughtfulness was evident throughout the entire process, as they worked to create final products that exceeded my expectations.

The large print is beautifully showcased in a three-mat design, with a textured mat, a blue outlined mat, and a neutral mat. The ratios of the mats are perfectly balanced to emphasize the print, and each mat plays a unique role in showcasing the beauty of the piece. The textured mat matches the texture in the print, adding depth and dimension, while the blue outlined mat makes the one blue feather in the print stand out and pop. The neutral mat serves as a background, allowing the print and the other mats to shine. Additionally, they attached document sleeves to the back of the frame to hold original certificates and information about the limited edition print and artist, which adds even more value to the final product. The frame and hanging hardware are incredibly sturdy, ensuring that the piece will remain secure on my wall for years to come. A Superb Owl!

The smaller print was framed with two mats, with a bigger gold mat and a thin green outline that matches the leaves in the print. The matting choices for this print were equally as well thought out and effective, highlighting the intricate details in the print and bringing the image to life.

The pricing for both projects was reasonable for the size and complexity of the framing, and the location was very convenient for me as well. I was thoroughly impressed by Becky's ability to bring all of these elements together to create truly outstanding final products. The communication throughout the process was clear, friendly, and all of my questions were answered promptly.

I wish we could give 100 stars to The Frame & Print Shop of Chapel Hill, as they not only do truly beautiful work and offer professional, quality guidance, they also genuinely care about their clients and make you feel like your project is the most important piece they've worked on that day. Recently my husband I reached out to Becky with a rather urgent framing need - it was a huge job, 7 pieces in-total to commemorate the one-year anniversary of my husband's heart transplant. We reached out by email one evening and Becky responded right away. Ash met with me at the store the next day and she was both knowledgable and patient as she guided me through the selections, sensitive to our shipping needs as 6 of the 7 paintings were being shipped across the country. The finished works were simply beautiful and Becky's team took such great care in protecting the pieces which made shipping even easier.
