I’ve been going to UMall (now University Place) for over 30 years. I went there looking for a birthday gift for my wife and had the worst shopping experience ever at Wentworth and Sloan. After waiting 20 minutes, I asked if there was anyone else helping customers and the old guy behind the counter (who was not helping anyone) was rude. When I replied that it’s usually customary to be polite to people who want to give you money, I was told to leave the store. I couldn’t believe it. If you look at reviews for Wentworth and Sloan you will see several reviews about rude or sketchy behavior. I and my family will not be returning to this mall again, which is unfortunate because it is the only mall in town and there are may great businesses there that we love: Silver Spot, Stoney River, Franks, Night Gallery, the Print shop, etc. There is no excuse for being rude. University Place should do something about Wentworth and Sloan before they alienate all the clientele for the entire mall. This mall will be losing many thousands of dollars a year from my family, until Wentworth and...
Read moreRode the Chapel Hill transit through the University mall, maybe 50 times. D bus on Saturday's, and the F bus during the week. Never took the time to check the place out...until today. Spent two and a half hours walking the entire complex, I was impressed. 360 degree parking all around the mall. Harris Teeter with a Starbucks, K&W restaurant, and banking facilities share the massive parking lots. Inside, a great variety of store's, shops and a cinema complex you just got to see. Restaurants of every class and flavor. I spent one hour and a half smelling the coffee's, eye googling the many freshly prepared deli dishes, fresh pastries, cheeses, and a collection of wines, for as far as the eye could see. This one place that deserved all my time is called,"Southern Seasons". They even have a climate controlled rare wines room. All of those items you knew existed, but didn't know where to find. I found them. Bring the family, bring money. It's a...
Read moreGood variety of stores, plentiful parking, but tons of empty space. Good theater and the best Chick-fil-A I've ever been to! 4/5 stars
2 YEAR EDIT University Place has gone way downhill since I made the above review. The only thing that's still good about this place is Silverspot. Bath and body works left, southern seasons left, red bowl left, along with most of the mall. The only things still there are the theater, Chick-fil-A, and Planet Fitness. The Chick-fil-A has gone wayyyyy downhill since early last year. I heard the owner sold it, so maybe that's why, but if you wanna know my thoughts, check my review of the store. I hope this mall changes something soon because it's heartbreaking seeing it this empty and desolate. I hate to say this but I recommend Eastgate a lot more than University...
