Ok here is my spill on this hospital. My dad has been in there care for several days now, and there has been some of the nurses that have been very good, and some that have been horrible. Depending on the nurse that takes care of your loved one, you will either get blown off and not updated on anything, got to pump them for information, or will give you proper information. This facility runs as a separate entity from Saint Francis Hospital, so information from blood work, testing, radiology, and any other things that may be done is greatly delayed, this is because they don't share the Thomas Health Care network. I do understand the circumstances that they face due to the COVID-19 stuff, but where you cant see you loved ones they are your only outlet to check on their care. We also had my dad's case manager that had called my brother (his MPA) and gave him information that was not even relevant to his current conditions.
I have gave them a 2 star rating because not all the staff has been bad. We have had 2 real good nurses that has taken care of my dad, the rest has been so so at best.
Update 03/09/2021
We removed my dad from this places care. I still stand by my raiting. Not all the staff is bad, we had several nurses that was great, and several that wasn't. When calling for an update, good luck on getting information from them for the most part. They stay short handed, not enough nurses to monitor their patients, and where they are over whelmed the don't take the time to pull the chart and give you the information you need to hear about your loved one. If your loved one is in need of more than basic care this place is not recommended...
Read moreMy fiancee is literally dieing as we speak. They keep him so doped up. A family member heard the nurse tell him that " your getting a shot buddy we are not putting up with you tonight" He's is heavily medicated with Seroguel 150mg at night and 75mg during the day. It keeps him knocked out so the don't have to fool with him. They bring his supper tray in and set it on the counter. I've not seen anyone try and feed him. He has been restrained ever since he got there. He always has a soiled bed when I get there. They are rough with him. I have never seen therapy or any other kind of help for him. I live almost 3 hours away and I never let them know women I'm coming. He's so doped up. I always stay 3 days. The second day they tell me they didn't give him his Seroguel the night before or that day. He is very alert and can talk when he's not all drugged up. I think they keep him sedated and all alone with no one on the staff helping get better, so he will just die. I'm very serious about this. I don't have a say so in his care. His son does. I tell him everything about his dad and he hasn't done anything about it. This is very sad. I wish I had some authority in this matter, I would get him out...
Read moreMy wife has been going through a very severe health crisis. It began with two weeks in Raleigh General, then three weeks in Ruby at WVU, then we ended up at Select Specialty in Charleston. I had a lot of doubt coming into this facility. I have heard a lot of horror stories concerning these types of facilities, but I have been pleasantly surprised. I told the Case Manager up front that I had some doubt and that I was going to have a lot of questions and she was fine with that. I also informed her that I had four specific areas that I was concerned with and I would need to stay on top of these issues, and she agreed. And honestly, I haven't really even needed to go out of my way to remain informed. The nurses, aids and respiratory techs keep me informed daily. The Management team has been very informative and easily accessable. There have been a few issues, but they have all been resolved quickly and to my satisfaction. I would be happy to recommend this facility to anyone who has loved ones needing this type...
