(Long review) I hate leaving bad reviews but after my experience this morning at this Starbucks it’s warranted. After ordering my venti drink, adding vanilla syrup, sweet cream foam, etc (all at extra cost) I ask for no ice so it’ll be creamy, the barista goes “just so you know it’s our policy that if you remove the ice we cannot fill the cup up”. I’m sure had she not said anything at all, I would have taken my drink with the gap at the top and drove off but the fact that my drink is $9 and she still felt the need to make this comment I in return say I forget you all are so policy driven, (hence why I normally order online or downtime/ south ridge). She then goes “you can leave and order at a different Starbucks”. Now this is becoming unpleasant altogether. I can’t leave bc my coworkers ordered ahead here and I’m picking there’s up too. When I get to the window I let her coworker know the unpleasant comments are unnecessary, I’m paying more than enough money to have to deal with this, especially as someone who orders Starbucks every single day. Tessa, the lady who took my order, comes to the window trying to rush me off (I’m still waiting on part of my order) she goes back and forth about not being rude condescendingly, that she’s just here to work her 8 hours, and leaves with “you can just file a report, my name is Tessa T E S S A, bye”. And walks off… remind you I’m still waiting on my order.. she was so shaken up by the confrontation she was preparing herself for that she couldn’t even think straight. Her co worker apologized, I told her it’s unfortunate people like her work here bc they’re the reason this store is deemed the worst one in Charleston. This location really needs better management and customer service training. If they cannot handle the pressure of a busy coffee shop or how to remain pleasant even when relaying information to customer then they should work in a different industry. Tessa, congratulations you’re willingness to be combative with a customer lead me to actually leaving a review and calling corporate. I’m sure isn’t taken serious or you wouldn’t be telling customers to file...
Read moreKanawha City, appeared to be training a new Cashier, I mean new as in possibly the first time opening the cash drawer when attempting to collect my money from the drive thru window with a half opened hand she was unable to hold 59 cents 7 total coins, dropping 1 penny and then elected in to charge me for dropping it, everyday me and my wife have a Starbucks coffee each, totaling $10.60, more than not and especially for the past few months during the Covid-19 pandemic we've been leaving the remaining $9.40 as a gesture of our appreciation for there services and yet I received $9.99 change from the 20.59 that made it to the register and her decision to charge me for the fact that it was evidently the first time taking money from a customer and dropped a penny was frustrating and aggravating to say the least seeing how long we waited for the vehicle in front of us to be served, so I decided to keep my money in fear one day I may have even less money than Starbucks, and I might not have a penny to spare, and may even purchase a coffee maker for extra line of defense from the mediocre life of over tippin syndrome (OTS) don't fall victim to the...
Read moreWhile visiting Charleston, West Virginia, a friend of my brother drove me to this Starbucks, located across from a McDonald's in Kanawha City. Apparently, my friend goes here for a croissant and coffee at least five days a week, mainly to work on his laptop computer. Like most Starbucks around the world, the WiFi here is excellent.
This location in Kanawha City has a drive-in window for orders, and the somewhat sparce interior has several comfortable vinyl upholstered chairs. The large air-conditioned rectangular room has tall ceilings, and the exterior walls are floor-to-ceiling plate glass.
If you enjoy Starbucks, this is one of two in Charleston. The employees are friendly and efficient. I ordered a breakfast egg and bacon sandwich and a large ceramic cup of coffee. But the food had no taste and was not warm. I had to walk to the counter to ask for a small packet of salt.
Starbucks is, in my view, the McDonald's of Coffee. Nothing special and overpriced. I only went there because my sister had given me a gift certificate and my brother's friend drove...
