I arrived at Food Lion a little after 7:00 a.m. to avoid the rush and handle my shopping early. Upon arriving, I noticed that customer service was closed. I stood in line with my items to exchange and waited for the cashier to finish with the customer in front of me. When it was my turn, the cashier informed me that I needed to take my items to customer service. Despite my pointing out that it was closed, she insisted I go over and stand there, saying she would call someone. After waiting and returning to the cashier, I asked her to call again. She seemed irritated, made a comment to another customer, and I felt like I was being seen as the problem. When a customer service representative, Ava, finally arrived, she was on her phone and did not greet me. Her attitude was unpleasant, and she seemed annoyed that I needed assistance. Ava informed me that she couldn't take back two items because they were purchased at a different Food Lion, despite being the same chain and on the same receipt. As I proceeded to check out my groceries, another employee, Devonte, was very kind and helpful. However, after over an hour in the store and nearly $300 in groceries, I was told I needed to go back to customer service. Ava was uncommunicative and did not assist me properly, eventually short-changing me on the items I returned.Overall, Ava's attitude and lack of assistance turned my attempt to have a pleasant shopping experience into an unpleasant ordeal. If you can't perform your job duties with a positive attitude, perhaps it's time to find a different job. I won't be returning to this Food Lion due to the poor...
Read moreThey don't seem to know basic math... I've been going to food Lion for decades, whenever they have a buy-one-get-one deal that means you can always get one item for half price if you want just one. This is one of the reasons why I love shopping here... well today I bought one item which was originally 6.99, that would have made it 3.50 with the cashier mistakenly rang me up twice, it said 2 @ 6.99 totaling 13.98. after all the discounts came up, it said I paid 6.99. since I only had 1 item I knew that wasn't right. I'm trying to explain this at the return desk and the lady's telling me that they don't do that type of discount, I'm like "yes you do"... So she takes quite a while to find a manager, and he's coming back telling me that they didn't overcharge me, counting everything on my receipt with his calculator. I'm trying to tell him all I'm concerned with is the 13.98 -2.50, -2.50 and then -2.00, which comes out to 6.99, which would have been fine if I had got two boxes... BUT I ONLY GOT ONE! So he says he's going to give me the money back but "take the receipt home and add it up"...??? Man I already know how to add! I've been reading Food Lion receipts for YEARS! (you telling me I can't add but here's the money so you can get out my face!) Felt a little disrespected because I've been going there longer than a lot of them been working for the company, and I KNOW...
Read morePROS: Store is generally clean and somewhat organized
CONS: Self checkout always broken or debitless or cashless. Never more than two lanes open EVEN when self checkout is completely closed. Manager (African-American man with glasses, only deacribing in case there is multiple managers so the store can recognize who is the issue.) will walk right past the line of 30+ people and not say a word to the customers waiting patiently due to their faulty leadership. Will not acknowledge the struggling employees working tirelessly to get down the line. Every single time I walk in here it is a near guarantee I'll be waiting just as long if not longer to checkout and pay for my items, which not to mention pricing at Food Lion is god awful with Oreos being $7.19, LIKE WHAT. This store and many food lions like it are a good example on how to never change anything and expect different results, insanity it is. Do not go here unless you would like to waste an hour of your life while people try and cut in front of you and complain about how...
