These reviews that i do provide, are primarily designed to help potential customers evaluate the businesses that i review. But I'll start this review a bit differently, by giving some of the back-story first. So that you will really be able to appreciate just how much of a difference even the smallest acts of kindness can make in a persons life. I am a former U.S. Marine and a disabled veteran. And some days, are just plain better than others. Today(July 13th), was just not a good day for me. The pain in my legs was spiking, the vehicle i was riding in broke down and it had just been a very long day. But...i was bound and determined to go grocery shopping. Nine pm on a Saturday night at Food Lion was not where i planned on being. My grocery cart was piled high and i was struggling somewhat to push it with one hand and support myself with my cane in the other. The shortest checkout line was at customer service, so naturally i made my way towards it, only to be waved off by the young lady working there. Turning my cart around, i began making my way towards the open checkout lines, which of course were at the farthest end from my location. I hadn't moved 10 feet, when i heard someone address me, it was a Food Lion employee. This young gentleman took my cart towards an aisle close by and a cashier immediately appeared. They had opened an aisle just for me. The young gentleman who initially had got my attention told me not to worry about it and began unloading all of my groceries on the conveyor belt for me. And then began loading them back in my cart after they had been bagged. I've been a Food Lion customer for quite some time now and good customer service is something that I've come to appreciate from this grocery chain. But...the timing last night, couldn't have been more fortuitous. This was above and beyond, next level type of customer service. The cashiers name was Demont(register 4) and my checkout time was 21:02- 13 July 2019. I don't remember the young gentleman's name who grabbed my cart, unloaded it and then began loading it again, once my groceries were bagged. As i previously mentioned, this was next level customer service and was greatly appreciated. A shout out to Food Lion and all of their phenomenal employees. Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a very disheartening experience at this location due to the treatment of a customer by an associate named Toni at the self-checkout. The customer was understandably frustrated because several items were ringing up at higher prices than what was listed on the tags. Instead of showing empathy or even taking a moment to verify or honor the posted prices, Toni was dismissive, unhelpful, and extremely rude.
When the customer mentioned she needed to get to work, Toni showed no concern for her situation. Instead, she raised her voice, telling the customer not to rush her. As the situation escalated, Toni made sarcastic remarksāsuch as when the customer asked to remove an item that scanned higher than tagged, Toni said, āI thought you had to go to work.ā
What was most disturbing is that even after the transaction, Toni continued with unnecessary, condescending comments. As I was leaving, she sarcastically asked if my items had rung up correctly and then added, āYou shouldnāt come to the store before you have to work ācause itās not gonna work.ā
Witnessing this lack of basic courtesy and professionalism was upsetting. Every customer, regardless of circumstance, deserves to be treated with respect and fairness. Unfortunately, this experience has left me with no desire to return to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI shop at this food lion a lot and I donāt know what I do that makes them think iām gonna steal because I never have and I never bring a bag or anything, but several times I have felt like a criminal here. Once a man came up to me while I was doing a self check out and started checking my bags. one time they said I didnāt scan something when it was RIGHT THERE on the screen. Sometimes theyāll come and just stand next to the self checkout iām using. Now, I donāt know if thereās a loss prevention employee or if I keep running into the same clueless customer, but thereās a man that I see quite often whoās always just looking at stuff in the aisle I am in, or heāll be at the checkout next to me taking AGES to scan two little things. and iām pretty sure itās the same man, but sometimes iāll sit outside the store to see if he ever even comes out and he doesnāt lol. Itās quite annoying to feel like iām being seen as a criminal! I try to avoid shopping here but unfortunately Itās on my way home, so I just keep the trips short and quick. I just wanna shop in peace without feeling like iām doing something wrong or being watched...
