OVERALL: Amazing gym with amazing people. Highly recommended for the beginner CrossFitter (myself last summer) but also the true elite athletes looking to compete! For me It’s fun to learn and try new things as a beginner but also allows me to see elite CrossFit members kill it in the same workouts and give me something to strive for. It’s a great mix with a great environment!
THE PROGRAMMING: For the intro to CrossFit they provide many levels for each workout (ultra-elite all the way to beginner never done CrossFit before). They walk you through each workout step by step and provide the best guided warmup there is out there. Each workout throughout the week has intention and sets you up to build your CrossFit base even if your a beginner to elite. These are not random WODs chained together. Kevin puts a lot of time into providing every member the best long term training plan.
There are also other training add ons that many member do on their own that is programmed by Kevin. The Grit Haus also offers a few Olympic lifting classes a week if you are really wanting to throw around some Olympic lifting style weights but learn how to do it safely and with great technique.
INJURY PREVENTION: They know what you need to do to stay out of the chiropractic/PT offices with unwanted CrossFit injuries. They first warm you up correctly and take the time to program that in. It’s done as a group and the warmups end up being a huge part of the workout. This helps with injury prevention big time. They also watch how you move and if you are not ready for something they provide great instructions to help you or alter the workout so you can still get a great workout in but still challenge yourself. And it doesn’t hurt that Amanda and Kevin also run their own chiropractic office right out of the gym. If something did end up happening, they know exactly how to correct it and PREVENT it from happening again with professional chiropractic help.
ATMOSPHERE: The gym isn’t huge and the classes are not very large. They Gyn provides enough space to not feel crammed but also allows the instructor to see everyone constantly and make adjustments if they see something. The people overall are great! Very friendly! Very welcoming! They plan things together like cookouts!
COMPETITIONS: Saturday throw-downs, are weekly. As a member, you get to compete again other gym members in a welcoming environment. People cheer you on if it’s you again yourself or you against the person next to you. This gym also has elite athletes that compete at the CrossFit games. You can watch them train, see them place at the games and cheer them on as they progress. It’s fun to see how far they can go!

Read moreI think one of the most understated aspects of The Grit Haus (Amanda and Kevin) is how dedicated they are to their students and business. Waking up that early and staying that late every single day is admirable and inspirational. If you asked them I am sure they'd shrug it off as a normal part of their daily routine and they probably wouldn't think too much about it, but I certainly do. Inspirational for sure!
Amanda and Kevin are fantastic teachers - patient & gracious but also stern and straight-forward when they know you need it most. They have always made me feel as part of the team even though I'm not a "super- duper" athlete, they've accommodated for my specific skill-set and both have helped me improve.
I feel that a lot of people may think that this gym is only for the most elite of athletes but I can assure you they find ways to get the best out of anyone's skill level (beginner, intermediate, super heroes).
It's inspiring to see this community grow and to see the gym flourish, I would recommend The Grit Haus to anyone and everyone.
