Aldi has a great reputation and almost a cult-like following. I went yesterday and I can see why.
I normally go to one of the most expensive grocery stores in Charlotte, just because it's convenient to where I live. I was actually shocked at the price differences. The prepackaged chef and chicken BLT salads I get that are over $5 at other stores? $2.50 at Aldi. A buck for a baguette. The prices are just amazing, and the Aldi Finds aisle is so much fun! From what I've heard, you just never know what you'll find!
I didn't buy any meat, but it looked fresh and delicious, especially the salmon and pork chops. I look forward to trying some things from that department on my next trip.
There are several self-checkout registers and a few lines for cashiers. You must bring your own bags because they don't provide, and bag your own groceries. That's part of how they keep the prices down.
I only had the opportunity to interact with one staff member, and he was super helpful and friendly.
Aldi is not a place where you'll find expensive specialty items, but if you're going for the basics, as well as some possible unique items you won't find other places, it's...
Read moreI absolutely loved shopping at ALDI Store #086 on 5550 Old Pineville Road, Charlotte! This place is a gem when it comes to quality groceries at UNBEATABLE PRICES
Every time I shop here, I’m amazed at how much I can get without breaking the bank. Fresh chicken tenders for $8.50, a pack of burrito tortillas for just $1.85, multi-peppers for $2.99—seriously, where else can you find prices like these? Their fresh produce, dairy, and frozen items are also super affordable compared to other grocery stores.
Beyond the prices, the store itself is clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. The checkout process is quick, and I appreciate how ALDI keeps things simple no unnecessary frills, just great food at great prices.
One thing I’d love to see? … A dedicated section for Indian groceries and veggies. There’s a huge demand for it, and I have no doubt that if ALDI starts stocking staples like lentils, spices, and fresh Indian vegetables, their business would skyrocket!
Overall, this is one of the best grocery stores in town for budget-friendly, high-quality shopping.

Read moreInexpensive. ALDI works very hard to cut prices, well below even the local Wal-Mart's everyday low prices.
Aldi is different than the usual American supermarket style. There are only a few aisles in the store and Aldi typically doesn't carry more than one or two brands of any particular product and you probably won't recognize the names on the labels (GT Cola? Contessa canned veggies?). The ones they do have are very well priced. I'd have to guess at least 20% less than Wal-Mart.
When you're headed to Aldi, it has to be pretty well planned. Bring your own bags because they don't have any. You can usually find a couple of cardboard boxes in the shelves if you forget bags. Even the shopping carts aren't "free" - because they want a 25 cent deposit and it's returned when you return the cart.
Would I shop again at Aldi? You...
