Let me start this off with this:
I enjoy supporting local businesses. I would spend slightly more on a product if I bought it from a store like this. I have a group that I play with that sometimes goes to Game On. I make sure I always purchase something while I am there because I believe it is important to support places like this.
The Review:
They have several tables for playing different types of card games or other table top games. The selection of miniature paints is incredible for the Chattanooga area, and they are a good location if you are looking for magic the gathering or pokemon cards.
I went in to purchase some Pokemon cards today and they had a large selection. There was another customer there who was looking for a specific product. I mentioned that another local game shop had this product. I was then told that was rude by one of the employees. I have seen this employee at that other LGS in the past. Not to mention that the product in question is available for lower prices at big box stores, but you know, support local businesses.
Final verdict:
Always buy from a local games shop when you can. It is important to have locations like this around. I personally will not be giving Game On my business for the foreseeable future. I hope my experience isn’t like most, and it seems that is not the case. I just feel that experiences like mine need to be shared.
Updated from one star to three as that was an unfair rating...
Read moreThis place was recommended by one of my friends so I decided to check it out. My first few visits were nice and I agreed with the no-scalper policy. Fast forward to yesterday, I see a 151 poster collection and some mini tins. I’m told the poster collection is $30 and each mini tin is $20. The next day, I go to buy another poster collection and a couple of tins which I had passed on the day before. I made my payment without looking at the total because I knew how much they would cost, but I was charged $15 extra. When I visited later that day to ask about the overcharge, I was told that the poster collection is $35 and the tins are $25. I’m not a confrontational person so I just walked away. I never would have bought the tins for more than $20 because that is already double the MSRP, and the poster collection I bought today has a sticker for $30. Maybe it was just a misunderstanding but it’s still a bummer to have overpaid on the items I bought. If you do go here, plainly ask for the price before buying, despite what the...
Read moreMediocre store with nice patrons and indifferent staff. The prices for Games Workshop products are often the same as listed on the GW website or more. No real incentive to buy locally when prices aren't competitive. Sealed product MTG prices are dictated by TCG Player and no preorder sales fells like a cash grab. Most of the times I've been in the store it is a mess and staff are playing games or having personal conversations instead of engaging with guests. Overall fine if you need something quickly but...
