Big Lots — Local services in Chesapeake

I love this damn place.

First of all, you never quite know what you're gonna get here. They get all sorts of random food, furniture, household items, toys, goodies, and weird stuff that you could go there every day off the week and there will still be something new. However, because of that if you see something you like, you'd better grab it.

I spend entirely too much here buying food. Snacks from other countries. Random drinks. Candies you've never seen before and will never see again. Sooooooo many cookies... Ugh. Stay out of the food. It's a trap. It's all good and you'll get fat. The staff are great too, except they'll just laugh when you claim that you totally didn't mean to buy all of this as you're checking out.

They do have their own little furniture section, probably reselling something from Ashley Furniture like every place else in Hampton Roads, but I've never really bought much more from that section than a rug and some throw pillows. Housewares has a lot of little tiny appliances (think blenders, microwaves, cake-pop makers), dishes, bakeware, bathroom decor, just a little bit of everything really. They do have children's toys and an electronics section than kept my nephews and niece entertained, but unless you get lucky you're not really going to see anything exceptionally high-end.

Really, it's just a fun spot to browse for hidden treasures and goodies you really don't neeeeeed, but that you can totally justify buying...

update The manager made it right when the assistant manager wouldn't put the effort in so I'm giving a few stars back.

I had a big problem where I placed an order online and the cashier didn't actually look for the items. There was three on the shelf but they canceled items that I had massively discounted. I walked over and grabbed it and then they refused to add it back onto my order and try to charge me full price saying they can't go back. Then they canceled my order which did not return my coupons that I used. Another item on my list was a flashlight and I asked one of the floor associates to help me look for it and he told me that Big lots does not sell flashlights. I found three other ones in the store but couldn't find the one that I ordered because it was so unorganized. The assistant manager was rude and...

Not real happy with the customer service today. Went in to look at furniture not 1 person over there assisting people. All I seen was ladies going to the back of the store. it wasn’t like they didn’t have staff, they didn’t have staff where they should’ve been to help customers. When I first walked in one employee (don’t know her name) black lady with her head shaved was smoking so that’s what me and my child walked into while entering the store. Stinky smoke. If you can’t go a shift without smoking INFRONT of the store then you have a problem. So I walked out without any help and will have to go online myself. This location needs...
