Update: One of the owners personally called me after seeing the review to apologize and offer a refund, and it seems part of the issue was the person taking my order just put in the wrong item for the Gordita and wasn't aware that birria tacos can be sold individually. I am changing from 2 to 3 stars for them reaching out to refund me, and I'll give the place a 2nd chance to get a better review if I get my refund.
Extremely disappointed to have to leave this review. I lived in Mexico for 3 years and surprisingly the La Hacienda that was in Greenbrier Mall that closed down had some of the best street tacos I've had in Virginia. So when I saw this place had opened up I was excited to try it. First, after ordering and waiting 20 minutes for my food, they figure out they didn't have the Caldo de Pollo I ordered. But the worst part was the food. As you can see the Carne asada tacos barely had 1 tiny piece of cilantro and very little meat and onions and the meat and tortilla was cold. Then you see what was supposed to be a Gordita, which was actually just a cold soft flour tortilla with a bit of cold cheese sprinkled on it, and it was suppose to have cilantro and onions not lettuce and tomatoes. I did have a chicken tamale and that was good. Although birria/barbacoa is listed on the menu as one of the 'proteins' you can pick for tacos and dishes, they wouldn't sell a single birria taco, only an order of 3 unlike the rest of the tacos. They are new and maybe I caught them on a bad day, but I was extremely disappointed in the...
Read moreThey don't serve black people. I had ordered many times before through doordash and I really enjoyed the food. One day me and my girlfriend were out and about and decided to stop by and get some lunch and we decided to dine in the restaurant for a change. After we were seated we sat there for 30 minutes watching the waiters serve everyone around us who are all Hispanic and a few whites mixed in no one ever came to offer us even anything to drink so after a while we decided to leave without spoke to the greeters at the door about it they just stood there and smiled I will never eat there again.
The reply the owner posted is a lie... I came in the restaurant shortly after 2 o'clock in the afternoon and the place was at 15 to 20% capacity at best...there were 2 greeter's at the door and I did actually say something to them about not being served on my way out the door and a waiter was standing right there smiling. One of the greeters asked where was I seated while the greeter who seated me was standing right beside her. I was actually seated between two parties who were actually being served while we were being ignored. So the owner suggests next time that I should flag someone down to be served when I came there to spend money in his establishment...wow. Do you ask all of your customers to go chasing waiters around your restaurant to spend thier money sir or just...
Read moreThis is legit homestyle Mexican food at its best. So they have been open for just under a year now. It's very relaxed and family-friendly here. It's fresh and new, but some of the utpolster booths are worn out. It really has an authentic vibe here. There's also Mexican music playing. Everyone here was friendly and helpful. They have a very extensive menu and very reasonable prices. I feel like i got my money's worth here. They have a full bar and happy hours. They also have specials for each day of the week. I took advantage of the frozen sangria swirl special, which was very refreshing and not watered down. They serve a generous tray of nachos and salsa complimentary. We couldn't even finish them all. I tried the lightly fried shredded beef tacos with the dipping sauce. The tacos were tasty and delicious. Just looking at my pics, it doesn't look like much, but it was very fulfilling. I will definitely be...
