Today, I took my wife and mother-in-law to lunch at Captain J's, just as I do all my visiting guest and friends. As always, I have never been disappointed. I have eaten at this small family-owned restaurant for over 15 years and the food quality, preparation, and customer service have always been exceptional. I will continue to do so and promote it as much as I can. Unfortunately, in a discussion with the owner's daughter today, I learned that her parents will be retiring and closing the restaurant at some point. This is truly unfortunate because Captain J's is a Chesapeake gem. It's strange, but in all the years I have eaten here, we have only greeted each other with smile and gratitude; never exchanging names. So either they are giving everyone cod fish and passing it off as whiting.
Or there is some cross contamination and they need to change their grease more often.
Either way something has got to give.
My parents enjoyed their meals they don’t have the same issues I have.
If I go back it’ll be for them. I personally can’t risk another...
