I have been living in the Greatbridge/Hickory area since 1998. I have been coming in this target and have had nothing but good experiences. Tonight, Christmas Eve 2023, that changed.
My mother is currently in the hospital, Christmas is going to look completely different for me tomorrow for the first time in 39 years. With all of that on my mind, I’m rushing into target (thanks for staying open until 8PM) to try to buy a last-minute item and possibly a board game for my family to play. This is important because my 17 year old son and my 12 year old son traditionally spent Christmas Eve with my Mother and Father. I noticed that they were a little down about not staying with my parents tonight due to my mother and father being in the hospital. This is the reason I wanted to grab a board game.
When I walked in the store at 7:32PM tonight, I was greeted by an assistant manager by the name of Jefferson. With a very strong tone and an unpleasant look on his face his said “just to let you know, we close in 28 minutes”. I replied “ok man, why did you have to say it like that?”. His reply was, “Look, I got a family to get home to”. At this point, I am very distraught and I’m asking to speak to a manager, but nobody is willing to point one out to me because of the fact that he is the assistant manager. It took me asking for target associates what his name was before I could get an answer, I partially understand that because those associates probably didn’t want any issues with management after I left.
You work retail sir, this is apart of it. If you don’t like having to work Christmas Eve until 8PM and beyond, find another job.
Your store (thank god) was the only store open until 8PM, you should've saw this coming. I think maybe 30 people came in right behind me.
I’m not upset that this particular manager was frustrated about having to work on Christmas Eve and possibly being there late because so many people came in 20 to 30 minutes before closing. I’m upset because when given the opportunity to correct his tone, he just stared at me. He stared like my existence was not worth him opening his mouth to correct the situation or resolve the matter.
Although one individual does not represent the entire company, I do believe by the time you get in a management position, you should not exhibit this type of behavior
Lastly, there are a plethora of reasons that people might come into a store, 20 to 30 minutes before closing. We should be sensitive to individuals and what we say, you never know what they just came from or what they might be going through.
Jefferson, I hope you and your family have an amazing Christmas and...
Read moreBest customer service around. Which is crazy considering it's a big box store! The customer service staff and the people who do drive up are so efficient, that I just had to write a review! The past year has been super crazy with a newborn and a disabled child at home, but I always know I can count on Target to be quick in filling orders, and to almost always have my items in stock. I have placed MANY orders and gone in quite a bit recently to do Christmas shopping, and only a couple of times have I ever encountered any issues, and when I have, I was met with a customer service person eager to not only rectify the situation, but go above and beyond to also make sure you are completely happy. I had a small situation over the weekend, and I spoke with Stephanie in customer service on the evening of 12/12 and she was seriously awesome and helpful and put my mind at ease. I went in this morning, 12/13 to finish fixing the issue, and Stephanie wasn't in, but the staff there were beyond helpful!!! Thank you Target! Thank you for treating us like humans and not like other big stores like Walmart who DO NOT care a thing about customer service or keeping accurate inventory numbers...They only want your money, and treat you like you are disposable. NOT the case at this Target!!!!! Sometimes when you're having a hectic time, especially in this day and age, a smooth grocery transaction may seem trivial, but it can make all the difference....Target workers...I want you to know that you make a difference and your kind efforts are noticed!!!!...
Read moreI still prefer this target to greenbrier. The look/layout is nice, items are in stock more and it tends to be less busy BUT the checkout line problems are getting unpleasant. Self checkout is limited to 10 items. They don't open enough regular lanes. On weekends it backs up nearly to the back of the store. There's no line separation. People just stand there and don't go on regular lines and you can't tell if they are actually waiting for self checkout or are confused.Today the employees did not have good customer service. 2 regular lines open neither with a light on. I had more than 10 items. I pick a lane, wait, was told she's closed. No direction on where I could go. I tell her nobody has a light on, Is the lane next to her open? She says idk but the other lady agrees to take me. I'm now behind 1 or 2 people that were originally behind me. Then another cashier shows up in the first line (actually turns on the light) and takes more people that should have been behind me. When I complained I just got a quick sorry. I said if someone else was coming they should have told me but she said she didn't know someone else would come. She seemed stressed and rushing. She spilled my blueberries (no problem accidents happen) but I had to wait longer for another employee to get more. I saw so many employees working yet no regular registers were open at...
