We have been going to the Hillcrest cracker barrel since it opened. Sadly after the general manager Bill left things at this location things have tanked. When we arrived the gift shop area was nice and seemed clean, the dining area was a different story. Walking to our table we noticed the majority of the tables covered with empty plates of food, ok fine maybe they just ended the dinner rush. When we got to our table it had smeared food on it and the host went and got a towel to wipe it off. There were only 4 tables in our section with people at them, the rest were covered in dirty dishes, and our server took almost 15 minutes before coming over to greet us. After we placed our order it took a little over 25 minutes to bring out the salads and biscuits and another 20 to 25 for the main meal. Mind you this was around 6pm on a Sunday and there were only about 9 tables of people in here, but still ok hey maybe they are catching up after having a rush. After dropping off the main meal our server then proceeded to dissappear for over 45 minutes probably because she knew our food was cooked incorrectlyand she didnt want to deal with it, prompting us to asking another server for items and finding out they now charge .50 per cup of apple butter they upcharge for any additional biscuits you ask for, jelly upcharge, extra salad dressing$$, drink refills yep you guessed it. When she finally came back she asked are you still good, ok and she dropped off the check. 1 steak meal, 1 trout meal, and 2 kids chicken tender meals over $90 with all the upcharges and soda refills. We used to enjoy eating here the food was amazing and the service was top notch, but I can't say that anymore, sadly I won't be returning to this location. Oh and if anyone was wondering those tables with dirty plates were still there when we...
Read moreOn Tuesday July 3,2018. I call in my order on my way to work. I had to work from 5 pm-8am. The lady on the phone took my order for the sampler platter. I arrive and paid for my food. While waiting for them to bring my food to me, a waitress came out and ask what sides I wanted. She thought I had meatloaf. I told her I had a sample platter and the ticket I paid for had my name and the correct order. Once again she came back and stated that they would have to cook my order. I told the nice cashier that I couldn't wait because I had to be at work. This order was call in 20 minute before I arrive so that they had time to cook it and I would have it for my dinner at work tonight. Cashier call the manager to the front and he put my money back on my CC and said that he could speed my order if I could wait. I couldn't and as I'm writing this at 3:37am on 7/4/2018. I so freaky hungry my stomach sound like a train and I have a headache. I still have 4.67 hours to go. Although they put the mess up on the young lady that took my order. I feel it wasn't her mistake because my ticket that I paid for had the exact meal I order. Even the cashier pointed that out to the manager. I been there many time and never had a mistake made like that before. Things happen and we all are human so we going make mistake from time to time. This is not intended to be a nasty review, only a honest review about my experience today. However the cashier and the manager was friendly and very apologetic. I will order again from you guys. If I had the time today, I would have waited on the food. I still gave you 5 star because out of 6 years of eating at this location.....my order has always been right. Have a happy...
Read moreGenerally the worst experience I've ever had with breakfast food, or service. 1 a rotation means that wait staff are assigned to sections, and that guest are seated in succession based on the next section/ server that should get a guest. This is to insure staff has equal opportunity to gain tips. When 6 parties are seated in the same section back to back it's not a rotation. Especially when you're seating parties of 2 at tables for 4. 2nd there exist a standard of how well things should be cooked. Scrambled eggs with runny yoke is sub standard. And it isn't a preference for eggs to be cooked all the way, it's actually a health code. If the manager Rudy is made aware of it in a polite way, he should do more then shrug his shoulders. Also this is a national chain. Why you seat people at 9:30 am and put 1 breakfast menu on a table with 4 is beyond irritating. 3 stops later from the waitress and no we aren't ready, we have 1 menu. This is my third attempt at this location. 2nd time with literally the same exact result. All 3 times I couldn't get an egg that wasn't runny. The first time here the eggs were sent back having came only cooked on 1 side, I even asked "am I asking for the wrong thing"? Is fried hard were it's thoroughly cooked through? The waitress assured me im asking right. Then brought back more literally liquid yoked eggs. Already saying sorry as setting them down to get the manager(Rudy). Who literally acted like this was fried hard and the only way I could get them. But offered my money back. The waitress did great and got a $20 tip. The food was worthless didn't get eaten and the manager doesn't seem to have any food safety understanding. Consuming raw egg can cause...
