Gran Rodeo Mexican Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Chesapeake

The food is hit or miss but the service is awful. My family and I went to have supper here, we weren’t greeted when coming through the door and it took a few minutes to acknowledge the fact we was there and seat us, once seated, 1 small basket of chips, 1 small red sauce and 1 small white sauce was brought out for 5 people, as I was asking the server if I could get a couple more red sauces and white sauces, he completely cut me off before I finished saying “can I plea” said “I got you” and walked away, he had no idea what I was even going to ask for. Even the female waitress that was standing there seemed shocked. At this point I told my family we should go elsewhere because if they’re already handling things like that then maybe they’re overwhelmed and we didn’t want anymore issues. The male waiter then said something towards us but I was unable to make out what he said as it was so low and I just wanted to get myself and children...

We’ve been eating here since this place opened. Martin is the owner, and he a wonderful man. However, for some reason the owner’s son decided to manage this restaurantlast Friday and single-handedly managed to keep us from ever coming to our favorite Mexican restaurant again . After being overcharged for a vegetarian meal , he proceeded to argue with us about the cost of cheese versus meat, even after realizing his mistake ... instead of apologizing, he decided to further argue with us, asking us why we were unwilling to pay just a few extra dollars... even though we were being overcharged to begin with. Then it simply got ridiculous. He started talking about religion... which had nothing to do with the over charged bill. In fact he stood there for a good four minutes arguing with us afterwards. People were staring, it was actually ridiculous. This WAS my favorite Mexican restaurant, but I will probably never...

The food is typically good but the service was TERRIBLE. Tonight is the 2nd time we have had a female waitress that was inattentive and rude. For starters, it took 20+ min to take our drink order... we were just about about to leave when the waitress finally approached and we placed our drink order.. after we received our drinks we ordered our food which we waited another 20+ min for and it turned out to be wrong... they brought only the fries for my sons kids meal and brought beef instead of chicken for both salads that were ordered at the table.... we waited another 10-15 min to be able to report the inaccurate order and additional time for replacement. We requested hot sauce 3x before giving up.... If you have children I would tell you to go elsewhere or you will be pulling your hair out waiting for service at this establishment. Take your $60+ dollars elsewhere if you want to enjoy your food AND be treated...
