Musashi Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Chesterton

This place never disappoints!!! I have been coming here since they have opened. The quality of their sushi is what you would expect from a big city. Being an hour out of Chicago we are so fortunate to have not only a good sushi restaurant but its beyond good!!! I travel to Hawaii quite a bit and I would have to say that Musashi is almost just as good as some of the places I have been out there. The only thing that could make it better is being right off the ocean on Waikiki!. Okay, I k ow I may be going g a little overboard but if you love good sushi you will not be disappointed! It's about 3/4 of a mile off I-94 in the plaza across from Jewel grocery store. Stop by if you are in the area and give it a try!!! We did order from Musashi numerous times before the pandemic. We even ate-in there once, because the take out was good.

We always found the rolls here super-small, but the restaurant is local, so better to get rolls from here rather than having to go all the way to Fuji in Portage, off of Route 6.

Tonight, however, we ordered take-out, and the food was REALLY not good. Not good at all. They are doing something vey different, something not good. Not NEARLY as fresh. This is not fresh seafood, period.

The Spider roll was simply not edible, We thru it out. The other rolls we ordered were edible, but nothing we would consider ordering again.

Overall, just a very strange experience, all around.

Im from Chesterton and moved away a few years back. I came to visit family and friends for the weekend and I noticed a lot of old local businesses had been replaced by new ones. This is one of the new businesses and my buddy who loves sushi took me here and told me how amazing it was. I was pretty skeptical cuz I live in the city now and it's a pretty small town so could they really have such great sushi? Well they do! Absolutely amazing and better than any of the places in the city. I am so impressed with the quality and the ambiance. I hope this place is around for years to come and becomes a staple in Chesterton so I can come here every time I visit...
