Something I have noticed at this store as well as some of the other Wal Mart stores we frequent is their greeters/unsecured shopping carts out on the stores parking lot.
Now, door greeter may not be the most high paying)rewarding coveted job at Wal-Mart but c'mon folks. I feel that If you accepted the job, your getting paid for your efforts, you should at the very least fake a smile along with a friendly appropriate greeting. The hiring manager may want to consider hiring younger folks for this position given that people typically need to stand by the entrance for extended periods of time. This job is not ideal for someone who may have back or other physical ailments. I wouldn't feel like smiling/greeting much either if I was in pain. ๐๐
Now, I appreciate the fact that we all have challenges in our daily lives. ๐ญ Some more than others. We all have bad days but customers should not have to pay for what may be going on in their personal lives.
I also appreciate this is Florida. Large Hispanic community. I'm Hispanic myself and bilingual. However, a language barrier is no excuse not to give a short friendly greeting. A simple greeting such as good morning, good afternoon sir, ma'am is easy to learn and helps people walking in who may have also had a bad day feel a bit better.
Getting help in the store can also be a challenge because employees can be difficult to pin down/find that are a able to help because everyone appears to be either too busy or some employees may not speak/understand English fluently enough to be of help to anyone who is not bilingual. On several occasions I have had customers walk up to me for help because they were not able to find an employee to help them. ๐ณ
Lastly, the parking lot has been a pet peeve of mine for some time.๐ก I'm sure some folks reading this can appreciate the fact that It can be both frustrating/challenge to find a parking space during peak shopping times. Shopping carts left in parking spaces only add to ones frustrations. I tell you folks it's so frustrating to see what we think is an open parking spot only to find several shopping carts in the space as we pull up close. Though this issue, has more to with what I feel are inconsiderate, lazy customers who can't be bothered to push their cart a couple of feet more from their parked car into a cart coral. People need to consider that these unsecure shopping carts can be a huge liability but only to the store but could be a safety hazard to other people. They could easily be rolled by mother nature and damage customers cars or hit/injure people walking near by.
That being said, employees assigned to the parking area need to stay on top of this parking area before peek shopping times. On occasion, people have had to head back out to the parking lot to get a shopping cart. This is unsat, should never have to happen.
One day in particular there were so many unsecured carts out there that I felt compelled to help secure these carts. I took it upon my self to help/volunteered my personal time to help secure these shopping carts. I'm retired military so I had the time.๐๐ I must have been there for roughly 2 hours pushing carts into these corals. I have to say it was pretty satisfying to clear up some of the parking areas of all the lose shopping carts that were making finding a clear parking spot a nightmare and finding a cart at the store a challenge.
I hope the powers that be from corporate/store management read this novel I wrote and work toward a practical solution to these issues. Best...
ย ย ย Read moreI'll be the first to admit Walmart is a great place to go for some great deals. You pay for that deal by having to put up with dirty stores, poor customer service, and clueless staff. This Walmart is the closest to my house and the absolute last one I will ever visit again after today.
Tried to buy 5 items of clothing. Unfortunately, the last item didn't have a price tag. Cashier asked me if I knew what the price was. I told him it was just under $11 but I didn't know the exact price. He asked me if I wanted to go get another one and I explained it was the only one in that style that was in my size. So instead of calling for a price check, which apparently they don't do because they are not adequately staffed, he sent me back to get the price myself. As we were in the middle of the transaction I left my credit card in the chip reader and ran to get the price.
When I came back he was checking out another customer and my credit card had been removed. He finished that customer and two more before he finally stopped the line to complete my purchase. He asked be the price of the shirt and I told him $10.88. He manually rang up the sale, gave me my total and looked at me. I asked him where my credit card was, told him I had left it in the reader. He said he didn't know and asked if I had another card. Luckily I saw my card by his register and pointed it out to him. Completed the transaction and he went to put the shirt in the bag and the shirt was gone. Apparently, without his noticing, somebody had come by and taken the shirt and he had no idea who to check with to track the shirt down.
We were hitting the 30 minute mark from the beginning of this fiasco so I just asked him to credit me for the shirt. Of course he couldn't do that because he had entered the price manually and had not scanned a tag. So I was directed to customer service for the refund.
You can always count on one thing in Walmart - there will be a huge line in customer service and it was my pleasure to go stand in it for another 15 minutes before I could talk to "Melissa" about my refund. Of course, how could "Melissa" come anywhere near understanding how she was supposed to refund me for a shirt I had paid for, had not received, and was therefore not able to actually had it back to her. Instead, she asked me to stop copping an "attitude". When I sarcastically laughed she threw up her hands and said, "I'm not taking anymore of this today." Walked away and, THANKFULLY, got a Manager.
At this point I decided to just leave all my items that I did get there and get the refund for them as well as the missing shirt. Took 10 more minutes but was able to finally get out of there.
Yep, you might be able to save some $$ here but it certainly isn't worth what you pay for in lost time and poor customer service. I'll still shop at Walmart but...
ย ย ย Read moreAs an update to my last remarks I wanted to add more about the store because I sounded a little bit down on it when it actually has some very good points. In many respects I am glad it is not a Super Center because I hate traversing those large stores, but because it is not a Super Center it of course will have limitations in what is stocked if your comparing.
They actually have periods where they look and may be understaffed and hence, customer service seems nill when your in the store looking for someone to help you. One trick I have is to call the customer service store line while I am in the store when I need help. They will broadcast a help request for you. I always need someone to put the big bag of dog food on my cart so that is my way to get help without traversing the isle looking for someone.
They hire all the time but for whatever a particular persons reasons, many are just young ppl getting their first jobs, and probably don't realize the amount of work it takes to run a store like this and quit very quickly. Even if your title is for one job, there is many more responsibilities in that job. So, they are always hiring these days, looking for those ppl who fit in with them and they with the workers.
So, my first remarks about this store reflect much of what I have added. If you encounter a problem with an employee or something else, it is a good idea to write a letter if it is not an immediate problem or ask to speak with a manager. My previous remarks: For this area this Walmart isn't that great. They should have made it a Super center. I shop here every couple weeks but I have to get some grocery items at the Publix or another grocer in order to find everything I want. They have been dropping popular items without warning and i have to order online, but at least I can do that now, when before online shopping, you just got what you got. But, the store has a lot of nicer clothes and other things than many of the Super centers I've been to lack. Just lacking choices in groceries the most...
