We were referred to Capital District Marina to have our boat serviced and winterized for the winter. This was the first time we decided to use them instead of Albany Marine. The only reason we did decide to use them in the first place was because they advertise on their website FREE STORAGE AVAILABLE! That stuck out like a sore thumb as we needed storage and had paid for it in the past, we thought this was an awesome deal and dropped our boat off in November. Now in the past, we have always dropped our boat off for winterization and always paid the bill at time of pick up (after the winter months). Well apparently Capital District Marina is really hard up this year because they sent us numerous letters in the mail stating they want to collect out $600 for the service that was completed. We dropped off in Nov with plans to pick up in May like we do every year. Well what does AL at the marina do.... He sends us another letter in the mail stating because we had not picked up and paid the $600 bill he is now trying to charge us $4700 in storage fees!!!! WTF?! You must be crazy. I dont even know how the hell he even calculated such a fee. We will be getting lawyers involved and contacting the better business bureau and the attorney general office on this one. We have tons of family in the law enforcement fields that agree this is absurd. We also know tons of people with boats and will make sure we spread the word to not do business with Capital District Marina! Worst service we have ever experienced. All this over $600?!? Really..... I feel sorry for you and your business! Like the guy below me said WORD IS OUT ON THE DOCKS...
Read moreI can not say enough of how impressed I was with this facility and Al. I had an issue with my boat and knowing some repair facilities that sell or fix things you do not need , I was looking for a place that had their act together. I was refereed to Capital District Marine Sales by a good friend that I have complete trust in. I will say that I was not disappointed. Al is up front honest and fair with his pricing. He and his top rated mechanic found the issue and did not try to fix things that did not need fixing just to add more to the bill. Boats are not like cars and it takes bit longer to get to servicing them. Al kept in contact to let me know when they will get to diagnostic the issue and when he had to test it out, he called to say he had to get a truck as his other one was on the road with a delivery . Al went out of his way to make sure I had the boat back in decent time . He treats you like a real person and not an inconvenience. Being in and around boats for 47 years , I have had many horror stories of repair facilities. How refreshing to have a place Like Capital District Marine Sales and Al that are truly honest , reliable, fair . Not only that but Al takes his time to explain to you about the repair and to share his knowledge of boats and boating. If anyone has ever felt being taken advantage of at other boat repair facilities, PLEASE go to Capital District Marine Sales . You will not be disappointed and may even say " why did I not go here before " . I know I will be back for any service or...
Read moreWARNING!!! READ BEFORE BRINGING YOUR BOAT TO CAPITAL DISTRICT MARINE SALES!!!
We dropped off our meticulously clean and well running bayliner boat for winterizing and storage last year and before we retrieved it for this year's activities we decided to have a minor problem fixed. I would soon regret ever bringing it here!
Upon retrieving it i was handed paperwork to sign which I readily did while the boat was being prepared to be released from inside the garage. Once I was able to look it over I was immediately horrified by what I saw! There was a dead animal in the boat which i photographed for legal purposes. There is pet hair still on the folded up canopy in the rear of the boat where someone had their pet laying while they were out enjoying our boat for their own personal pleasure not to mention all the nicks and cuts on the upholstery. There was even a coffee cup stain on a white cushion that will not come clean!
BUT WAIT....THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!! When we put the boat into the water much to our surprise they FORGOT TO PUT THE DRAIN PLUG IN THE BOAT CAUSING THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT TO FLOOD, DESTROYING THE ENGINE!!! There goes our mutual investment and potential family memories that we will never again enjoy in our newly destroyed boat!
We are currently seeking legal advice as the loss of our boat is due to...
