Spring Garden Troy — Restaurant in New York

I hate to write this review since I’ve been having their food since my parents used to order from them when I was a kid, but since the original owners laughed, and someone else took over the food has gone down drastically over quality not to mention the price is always different no matter if you order the same food or not. I also don’t like the fact that if I don’t tip on the app, they send a regular delivery driver that’s not one of them but then if I tip on the app, they send one of their workers. I’m sorry but to me that is horrible to do you’re basically taking money off of other drivers that you hired to deliver. And not only are you over charging me but you’re also taking extra of a tip solely based on your charging me a delivery charge twice and when I’ve asked about it you just gaslight. So I tested the theory, I ordered my usual tipped on the app. One of their workers came then I noticed when I didn’t tip on the app I received one of their regular drivers that’s not one of their Asian workers and so I asked him since I used to get him all the time when I didn’t tip on the app and when I started tipping on the app, I don’t see him very shady in my opinion, but I asked him and he didn’t even know that this was going on. How are you hiring outside drivers to deliver your food and then you’re stealing potential tips that they would be getting when you guys make more than enough money because you’re overcharging customers. You charge us more if we use a credit card you charge us double the delivery charge if we have it for delivery and then to find out that you’re stealing tips from outside delivery drivers is disgusting and disgraceful especially when you’re charging almost $20 for a large meal, nothing else And the food qualities is not even there if anything, it has decreased while you increased the price. Also, if my total is 20 something dollars and I tip on the app, why am I being charged almost $40 on my card? To me that doesn’t make sense, especially when it should only be less than $30 but yet my credit card shows almost 40 so it’s like if I pay the tip you’re charging me more solely for...

This is literally my first time ever leaving a review on Google. But these folks deserve it! They always go above and beyond and never mess up an order despite our tendency to make substitutions. We live just a couple blocks from Spring Garden, so we end up giving them our business when we are in the mood for Chinese foods. Their prices are fair and the combos are a pretty good deal when everyone wants their own different meals.

On this last order I ended up calling them because the website stops accepting online orders for delivery at 9pm since they close at 10pm. They were so friendly on the phone and even remembered who I was- my name, address. They were more than happy to get delivery out to us even though they would be closing in less than 40mins. I had two famished teens who had not eaten all day, one of whom is vegetarian. It was a bit noisy here and they ended up not hearing me ask for the veggie fried rice for the veggie kid. Nobody’s fault and it was NOT on the bill! I called them back 10mins before closing time, a bit panicked about what I was going to feed this kid. They rushed an order of veggie fried rice right over!

Ordered 'house special lo mein" combo. $8.75. I was charged an additional fee of three dollars making this noddle with rice dish $11.75. Apparently, it was a "special order and the 3 extra ingredients were $1.00 per item. What could a piece of this or a piece of that possibly cost? The size was the same as the normal dish. And the Quart size is $10.50. The online menu is difficult to work with. I did see a house special combo of lo mein for the regular price. Really disappointed. Wasn't worth the extra money. Is barely is worth the 8.75. But we want to support local businesses. My guess is that we will go out of our way to get to the Plum Blossom. It is really clean there and not greasy and food is identifiable. Gouging the public while in the pandemic is not ok. A lot of us are not working. Bad review continues for the Orange flavored Beef dish. $13.75. A lot of fried stuff in a heavy sweet sauce. All batter with stringy pieces. Come on guys... you can do better than this!
