This is a lovely store but I had a confusing interaction with Dennis, the owner. My Mom and I stopped by with an autograph I had found recently. I had no idea if it was real or not, and someone local recommended I contact Dennis. He was patient and kind and seemed genuinely excited about the autograph. He said he might be interested in purchasing it from me but that he wanted to do some research and get back to me. He called and left a message over the weekend saying he thought he wanted to make me an offer but would like to see the autograph in person and to stop by anytime. I didn’t make it back until that Friday, because it was a busy week. This time, he seemed very different. He seemed mildly irritated that I didn’t have a price in mind (I have never done anything like this and had no idea what to expect). He did end up making me an offer, but concluded with, “I mean it really is pretty ugly,” and tossed the autograph on the counter. If I was going to sell it, I had wanted the autograph to go to someone who would value it, and after our first meeting it seemed like he was that kind of person. I’m not sure what changed from one week to the next, unless he was trying to make me feel I wouldn’t get more than what he was offering because of the shape the autograph was in. Either way, no matter what the offer, I wouldn’t want to sell something to someone who said they thought the piece was ugly.
I appreciated the time he took to take a look at the autograph and do some background research into it, but I left feeling confused and that I had unknowingly done...
Read moreI stumbled upon this antique store by accident touring through the area. I was happy it was open on a week day and it was easy to find after a Google search. We walked in and the owner introduced himself. A very kind and gentle man. These kind of stores are rare and hard to find… old school stores with a single proprietor with a point of view . Dennis happens to have similar taste to myself … paintings, sculptures, photographs, ephemera, jewelry ….. well laid out and organized. We spent over an hour in this fantastic shop. And left with some unique treasures. This will now be a stop on our annual pilgrimage through upstate. As a bonus he has the cutest dog who lovingly greets you at the door. This is a shop not to be missed . And the prices were fair and affordable, but the quality...
Read moreThis is one of the only real antique stores in the greater Albany MSA. The owner was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about archival products and service, and was willing to share his knowledge freely. He was referred to me by Ferris Coin ( another great and honest establishment ).
His store is clean and organized. His products range in price but for the higher end antiques his prices seemed inline with what I see at auctions. Great guy, great store, and they really cleaned up that entire block of...
