D & F Plaza — Local services in City of Dunkirk

I enjoy my shopping days at Big Lots at the D&F Plaza located in Dunkirk and not just for the clearance rack or other bargains I always seem to find. They have a special kind of employee in this store and I mean that in the best of ways. If you find yourself in need of some assistance, it never takes long to find a worker and yet, I can honestly say that I have never felt pressured by an over zealous employee that found out early on that time tends to go by much faster if you are able to locate any relaxed shopper you see and then either stalk them or ask them (usually more than once depending on how busy the store is at the time) if they need assistance each time the customer enters a different aisle. While this may read as funny, it really isn't and more than once I have left stores for this very reason and never returned no matter what they had on sale or what kind of promos they were pushing. As adults, we are certainly capable of asking the nearest employee for help if it is warranted. Having said this, the quiet, low-pressure atmosphere I have regularly found in Big Lots is exactly the reason I will continue to shop there. It certainly beats the confusion, the smell of cheap products NOT made in the U.S.A., the congested aisles filled with reunions of all types, screaming kids not to mention, the drag-racing scooter drivers that need a scooter like I need another head but keep them from those that actually depend on the convenience a scooter provides (just prior to it's running out of juice, of course) in large stores today. I won't name names because I don't have to-who doesn't know of which...

I was very disappointed with staff assistance today. It seems that their personal conversations were more important than assisting my needs. It should not matter I was dressed like a bum, I didn't smell. I have $$$$$$. As I waited for the conversation to end, they saw me, kept talking and then moved away. I may never go back, I figure I will not be missed, and I doubt they actually care one way or another. Besides. I would rather spend my money at a place that cares about the customers needs and wants and not the clothes s/he wears....

the best big lots I know of in eastern pa and Western ny. Also home of Ollie's omalias liquor and a cool gym that has a bar and a daycare! Great Chinese food and service. Dollar general sucks. Jc Penny's went outta business. gamers Haven could be better...rent a center has friendly staff but hound you the day your due unless you tell them they do it again they can come get their stuff. I could see them calling if your late...let's be reasonable people. Besides that conveniently placed ride aide and video store well priced...
