⭐☆☆☆☆ Extremely disappointing experience at the Dunkirk, NY Starbucks
I’m honestly heartbroken to be writing this, because I’ve always loved Starbucks — it’s a place I usually look forward to visiting. The employees at other locations feel like friends, and the service is consistently kind, uplifting, and warm. But my first visit to the Dunkirk, NY location was the exact opposite.
I placed a mobile order through the Starbucks app as I always do — choosing Drive-Thru — since I had my three young kids in the car. When I arrived at the speaker, I gave my name (Adriana), and was told to pull up to the window. What happened next left me stunned.
The employee opened the window, not to hand me my drink, but to sternly tell me that next time I needed to come inside if I select “in-store pickup” — and that they’d "do it this one time" for me. The tone was condescending, and her words felt more like a reprimand than a helpful heads-up. I was confused, as I had definitely selected Drive-Thru when ordering. I politely responded and explained that I did choose drive-thru, and she doubled down with “Well, it says in-store, so I’m just letting you know.” No apology, no kindness — just attitude.
She then gave me a drink that wasn’t mine — it had a completely different name on it. When I informed her of the mistake, she wordlessly took it back and handed over my correct order. Still no apology, no acknowledgment of the mistake, and certainly no correction of her earlier behavior. She just stared at me as if I was the problem.
This interaction was unprofessional, dismissive, and frankly, humiliating. Not because of a mix-up — those happen — but because of how it was handled. There was no accountability, no kindness, and absolutely no customer service.
I sincerely hope this review is taken seriously. If you're going to represent a brand like Starbucks, which prides itself on service and experience, you should treat every customer with respect — and at the very least, make sure you're actually correct before scolding someone.
To the employee involved: being wrong is forgivable. Being rude and...
Read moreI love Starbucks, super excited to have one we can conveniently go to in and out. Tried a few times and it was okay. Understand the wait with new staff and volume with everyone trying it out but yesterday was a horrible experience for me. I’m not one to write reviews let alone bad ones since I’ve worked in the industry and get it but for the future success of this location, I am writing this In efforts you can correct your staff or get the right people in there. I felt like I was in Dunkirk and not in a Starbucks. I had gotten a latte in between games and it was made incorrectly. I didn’t have time to go back in so I waited until the game was done to come back. Most times I could care less but it was not what I wanted at all and for the price, I wanted what I had ordered. I walked in, barely acknowledged. It was about 7-7:30ish. The girl that had red hair made eye contact with me and felt more as a burden than a customer. She along with another girl both had ear buds in and on their phones. They were washing equipment and seemed like I was completely unconvincing her. She never once smiled at me, said hi or especially even apologized to me. She ripped the sticker off my cup and refused to take my cup and made another girl make it and proceeded on her phone. I understand the sanitary side of the that but I also didn’t want something that I didn’t order and had asked her if there was a can somewhere I could put it. She told me I couldn’t put it in the can. Finally after getting frustrated with me, she offered me to pour it down a sink. Which I did. Not a have a nice night or being apologetic, it was just cold. I expect this over at the Taco Bell down the road not at a Starbucks and that’s why I don’t go there because of the rude service. Please do better...
Read moreI have been coming to this Starbucks to work for at least half a day for the last month while I've been in town taking care of my dad's estate. I have never been to a Starbucks where I feel THIS welcomed! The staff is super friendly and every one of them always has a big smile when you walk in. At least one person always yells to welcome you in and says to have a great night when you leave. With almost every drink I've ordered, they write a cute note on the cup that always brings a smile to my face. I've been sitting in the same place most days and they often bring my order out to me. Today they even brought out a complimentary warmed up pumpkin muffin to my table! This Starbucks is also always super clean and it feels calming to work here. I've taken video conference calls and many meetings without issue; the wifi is great and my coworkers haven't ever heard any background noise while I've dialed in from here. I've had a rough month and have really appreciated their kindness to a random customer here at Starbucks! It really warms my heart and has made my time in town a...
