I prefer this gym to Helen Newman. The upstairs has treadmills and ellipticals, as well as free weights, cable machines, and various other machines. Downstairs has olympic-style lifting platforms. With that said, the summer hours of this gym are terrible: 7 am to 3 pm weekdays, closed on weekends. Who is the target demographic for a gym with hours like this? Retired people and unemployed folks I guess. It's a mystery to me why Helen Newman has better summer hours (6 am to 8:30 pm) given it's inconvenient location, tiny parking lot size, and lack of lifting platforms (and even the "no deadlifting...

It is also used for a lot of the Cornell sports like swimming, gymnastics, and rowing. That can be a bit intimidating but the staff are really nice so I’d definitely recommend going to workout or swim. One thing that is annoying is that there is usually only one (sometimes 2) entrances open which is the one closest to the football field so if you’re walking from central campus you have to go all the way around...
