Schoellkopf Field is located on the campus of Cornell University. It is named after Jacob F. Schoellkopf, the founder of electric power at Niagara Falls. The Cornell University football team plays here and has called this field home since 1915. The football team has won six national championships while playing at this field all before 1950.The stadium’s capacity is 21,500. The most notable feature of the field is the unique crescent shape to the eastern stands. The crescent shape gives it a Roman coliseum like vibe. All the seats are metal bleachers. If you want to pay extra you can sit in the colonnade at the upper levels of the stands. Seats are plentiful for most games in the stadium and it is easy to move around for different views. For most games there are no reserved seats; it is first come first serve. Views of the football field from the stands are excellent and it is nice to see the surrounding hillsides. Cornell has the Ivy League’s only marching band and they are a perk of seeing a game here. You can also see the band before the game performing in the parking lot. Though the stadium has a great history and is set in the beautiful countryside, there are some things which should be improved. For the whole stadium there is only one concession stand. This should be changed, there is plenty of room to add food trucks or at least another concession stand. The line for the one stand can be very long. The bathrooms in the stadium also need to be updated. Across the field on the westside of the stadium they should add metal bleachers for visiting fans. It seems strange to look across the field and see a parking garage behind the home team’s bench. Parts of the stadium also need to be repaired. There are some stairs that are crumbling. An update for the stadium to make it more modern would be money well spent. There is a parking lot near the stadium that charges for gameday parking. You can also park in free lots on the campus. It is best to purchase your tickets ahead of time online. Overall, Schoellkopf Field is a nice place to see a game, but some upgrades here could make this an even...

Read moreWent here to check out the historical Ivy League Schoellkopf Field. I never went to an actually game as I was only visiting Ithaca for hiking purposes, but had to check out the field and the turf is amazing looking. Very pristine field and old looking structures of the stadium itself. Almost reminded my of when I visited Harvard’s football stadium out in Boston, Massachusetts. Kind of like a coliseum vibe in the Roman times. In one of the images of you look far out to the left you can actually see Ithaca College on the opposite hillside of Ithaca. Very interesting town, and closely compacted. Artistic vibe and a true college town vibe. Overall, cool college...
