What a wonderful find! I'd read about this new store in the newspaper some months ago. But today was the first time I found myself in their neighborhood. I sought them out for the specific purpose of buying a good parmigiano reggiano. My wife is Italian and I often cook Italian food. For too long we had settled for a mediocre grated parm from Wegmans but I knew from traveling in Italy that we could do much better. I was not disappointed. When I described to the cheesemonger what I was looking for she offered me a taste of a delicious parmigiano reggiano cheese. The good news was that the price was only 8% higher than the mediocre cheese I have been buying from Wegmans. After wrapping up a pound of the cheese for me, I continue looking around the shop. I discovered that this is much more than a cheese shop. They specialize in products produced in New York State. This includes beverages, pickles, olives, crackers, spreads and sauces. I chose a chocolate bar made by Sweet on Chocolate which has its store downtown in Armory Square. I also purchased a new shape of pasta by Sporkful called cascatelli, ie waterfalls. The grooved curled pasta looks like it will be great for holding on to pasta sauce. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. I look forward to returning to sample other products sold by...

My husband and I always make a point of searching out local cheese mongers in the cities we visit. Not only was The Curd Nerd the best we found in Syracuse, but it may be our favorite that we have ever visited! The building was spacious and bright with adorable decorations. The cheese options were absolutely perfect for what we were looking for. A great mix of more traditional flavors and options we had never tried before. Sarah has all of the cheeses labeled to give you a good idea of what the flavor notes of each cheese is, but you can also get a sample to try if you aren't sure. Sarah's knowledge of cheese is amazing. She really walks you through where the cheeses are from and why they taste the way they do. She and her husband even gave some pairing ideas to us. They have so much more than cheese! Charcuterie, chocolate, spreads, crackers, and dried fruits. Honestly, the best part was chatting with Sarah. What a sweetheart! She even recommended some amazing spots in Syracuse to check out while we are in town. Go to The Curd Nerd if you are in the area, you...

This shop is exactly what Syracuse was missing—a cheese shop operated by an authentic (and award-winning) Cheesemonger.

I’m here at least once a week and always drop in when it’s time to build a charcuterie platter for a party. My favorite thing is to tell the staff how many ounces of cheese and cured meat I want and then ask them to surprise me with their selections. The Curd Nerd’s highly knowledgeable staff never disappoint.

Will you pay more for your cheese here than you would at Wegman’s? Yeah, a little. But you’re also going to find special, rare, and in some cases reserve, selections that you’re just not going to find anywhere else.

I can’t say enough about this store and the knowledge the owner and staff possess. Eastwood is incredibly lucky to have The Curd Nerd!

Great cheese selection and the ones I got to taste were delicious! They had a lot of locally made jams, chocolate, honey, etc… Very cute shop! I originally saw them on tik tok and was really excited to visit them during my vacation to New York since I am from Texas. The service was…lacking. I asked for cheese recommendations and was met with an indifferent response. I did pick up a spicy jelly and asked what they think would go well with it and the response I got was “bread”. I received more information from the jar label. On their website, they offer a charcuterie board for one. When I went into the shop, the worker, Ava, stated that they need at least a day’s notice. The site states an hour. So I’m not sure if she misunderstood what I wanted or just didn’t want to really serve me, but I did ask for a small charcuterie box. Overall, I’m pretty disappointed with my experience
